First off, why are you such an asshat when I was simply saying that there is another side to the arguement. And what the hell are you talking about arguing semantics. I simply stated arsenal and armory both work, you insulted me and began the "argument."trythebill wrote: not traditionally jackass. i don't care what dictionary you found that in, traditionally the arsenal is where weapons get made, repaired or updated. the armory is where they get stored.
you don't go to the arsenal to get equipped for war, you got to the armory.

to be fair, they essentially mean the same thing. the discrepancy comes about by those who use the terms.
and i'm still right because:p.s. arguing semantics gets no one anywhere, let it go.armory: 1. A place where arms and instruments of war are deposited for safe keeping.
off topic? OMG YOU'VE BEEN CENSORED... yet you're still posting. MYSTARY!!!!

Very tasty collection you have there, young man!
Is that a Hungarian AMD-65 that's wearing the Cobra sight? I always thought that wire strut stock would be painful to shoot if you tried the usual "cheek welded to stock" head position I was taught to use. Are they okay or as painful as it looks??
Is the M1 on the right a selective fire M1A2 or has it just got the later 30 rnd magazine?
Last question - how tricky is to get parts for the Johnson carbines and how do they handle commerical .30-'06 deer loads?

indeed it is an AMD65, the stock is actually fairly comfortable to shoot with but it is not possible to get a proper weld onto it. you just short of hold your head in line with the sights, accuracy suffers of course, but i am making a custom sleeve that will allow proper alignment and proper stock weld for both the iron sights and the kobra.Viktor wrote:Very tasty collection you have there, young man!

none of the M1 carbines are selective fire, that one just sports the later 30 rnd magazine.
parts really aren't that hard to find for the johnson but they are fairly expensive. as for commercial loads in the rifle, all documentation i have seen thus far states this is a very bad idea. modern commercial loadings are tailored to higher pressure specs and can be damaging to the operating system of the both the johnson and the garand. i use 70's production korean 30-06 which is loaded to standard GI M2 spec which is what the beast was made for.

Let me know how you get on with the cheek piece.
I hadn't realised that .30-'06 had gone the same way as the .308 Winchester in that it's now quite a bit hotter than when it was adopted by the US DoD as the T-65 which got standardised (with compatible but slightly different diamensional specs) as the 7.62 NATO round.
