SECONDARY SMOKE KILLS BABIES! DONT FORGET THE BABIES!!

Regardless, banning smoking is about as dumb as it gets. That is verging on that moron of a president (Wilson) who signed a law declaring war illegal.

Banning smoking *in public places* is the case. No one can deny you from smoking outside or at your own home. That's all common sense.

That is still ridiculously limiting. I'm sure you'll get plenty of "FREE SPEECH" goons crying, but that is just as dumb. If you don't want smoke in your lungs, step back. Or realize that the way you die of second-hand smoke is working in a bar/restaurant/etc where you suck it in all day and night long.

And why do you hate Finns so much?

Why wouldn't YOU step back instead?

Seriously though I don't give a shit as long as I can eat without inhaling smoke, I'm good.

Indeed. It's easier to show the "no smoking"-sign to the smokers than teach every single customer to smoke so they could all live happily ever after in that cloud of tar & carbon monoxide. Pretty much the same deal with gun regulations - it's easier to forbid them than arm everyone from toe to teeth.

And jetbaby, why shouldn't I hate Finns? Am I not a perfect example of why everyone should feel at least some kind of hatred towards the people of Finland?

Guns are a good example. I can’t run around the city shooting everywhere, but I can still go to a firing range. Is a smoking club such an outlandish idea? I don’t smoke around people who don’t like it (with one exception)

Eating food, whatever. I just think there should be places where the owner is allowed to say if he wants smoking. If he does, other people can either suck it up or not go. Plenty of places will decide to stay smoke free, so the non-smokers can sit and eat without the smell.

I smoke around everyone regardless of age or sex...Well...I don't smoke around children under the age of 2...But that's just good sense. Heh.

I in no way support banning smoking anywhere. Oklahoma has it set up pretty nicely...Places that want smoking need only a seperate ventilation system for the smoking areas, and it's allowed. All the bars are 100% smoking (duh). And if the place doesn't want to install the seperate ventilation system they can go either all smoking or all non-smoking. Not surprisingly, a LOT of places have gone 100% smoking since the law was passed last year.

Your rights end where the other's rights begin.

Don't reclaim smoking as a right, it has consequences beyond your little self.

Well all places should in my opinion have at least a seperate section for the smokers or the non-smokers, depending on which one are the minority. Nothing ruins your appetite like a mouldy cloud of smoke and *that's* what the restaurateurs understand too!

One has got to be a really weak person if he can't hold his urge for cigarettes while getting a couple of pints of beer. It's reasonable and fair to tell the smokers they have to stub out their cigarettes than force the non-smokers to inhale other people's poisons. The last time I checked smoking wasn't a vital action people couldn't survive without, so is the banning of smoking in public places really such a big deal?

You could always just go outside to smoke and then come back...

Its our right to smoke, and its your right not to want to inhale it.

Look, if smokers were even allowed to congregate inside a restaurant designated for smoking over here then I wouldn’t have a problem. Everyone into sucking ash gets to, and they all hurt each other. Problem solved?

Like said, there are places (at least over here there are...) with specific smokers' corners which are pretty much isolated from the rest of the bar/restaurant whatever. They can smoke as much as they want - and most of the times the place is so full of smoke you can barely see anything that's happening in there (glass walls).

It works just fine, though some employees have a special deal in their contract of work or just don't want to serve in the smoking section for some reason. That means you won't get your orders taken -> you have to get to the counter, nor will you be brought your food -> you have to get it from the counter again.

Smokers are the outcasts of the affluent society, just cope with it :)
