Does that description changes with the time and the issues treated?

I have only been there for two days, but if you compare my first post of my nation and this post you can clearly see a change, so i am thinking the more issues you have the faster it changes.

The Empire of The Steel Knights
"Saepius Exertus, Semper Fidelis, Frater Infinitas"

UN Category: Moralistic Democracy
Civil Rights: Few Economy: Reasonable Political Freedoms: Below Average

Location: The Great Waste
The Empire of The Steel Knights is a small, safe nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate population of 7 million are highly moralistic and fiercely conservative, in the sense that they tend to believe most things should be outlawed. People who have good jobs and work quietly at them are lauded; others are viewed with suspicion.

The large government is mainly concerned with Law & Order, although Social Welfare and Defence are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is 23%, but much higher for the wealthy. A large private sector is led by the Pizza Delivery, Soda Sales, and Trout Farming industries.

Voting is voluntary and the kingfisher is a protected species. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to a well-funded police force. The Steel Knights's national animal is the kingfisher, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the brotherhood dollar.

Not with the time... It depends on the decisions you make about the issues (if you dismiss them, they have no effect at all) and if you're a UN member, all passed UN resolutions will effect your nation as well.

The starting "quiz" you fill in while creating your nation also matters a lot. I can't remember how exactly, but I think there are some kinds of limits your nation can evolve into from the beginning state. In other words, if you start as a Psychotic Dictatorship you most likely won't end up as a Civil Rights Love-Fest or if you start with Anarchy you won't be end up with Corporate Police State etc. etc. no matter what you decide on those issues.

K.

I was just wondering if the way you treat issues really affect your nation.

Also, do the UN proposition or your votes on the UN proposition influence your nation, or both?

If a UN proposition passses, all UN nations have to adhere to it. So if you voted against, you're SOL. Your votes influence the outcome of the proposition, but only the final descision affects your nation.

Nationstates FAQ wrote:The UN is your chance to mold the rest of the world to your vision, by voting for resolutions you like and scuttling the rest. However, it's a double-edged sword, because your nation will also be affected by any resolutions that pass. (You can't just obey the resolutions you like and ignore the rest, like real nations do.)

The Holy Empire of Ninelund
"Better to have loved than to have made lemonade."

UN Category: Authoritarian Democracy
Civil Rights: Rare Economy: Fair Political Freedoms: Some

Location: The Great Waste
The Holy Empire of Ninelund is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 5 million are prohibited from doing almost everything except voting, which they do timidly and conservatively.

The enormous, moralistic government concentrates mainly on Law & Order, although Religion & Spirituality and Defence are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 36%, but much higher for the wealthy. A substantial private sector is led by the Trout Farming industry, followed by Arms Manufacturing and Retail.

Crime is moderate. Ninelund's national animal is the Dhamel, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Nine.

I'm moving to you're region, hope you don't mind.

The Holy Empire of Tarsos is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate population of 5 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The enormous government juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Religion & Spirituality, and Defence. The average income tax rate is 35%, but much higher for the wealthy. A substantial private sector is led by the Basket Weaving industry, followed by Cheese Exports and Furniture Restoration.

Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control. Tarsos's national animal is the Lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the dram.

Also

The Republic of Naimen is a tiny, socially progressive nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million live in a state of perpetual fear, as a complete breakdown of social order has led to the rise of order through biker gangs.

The small, corrupt, liberal government juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Religion & Spirituality, and Commerce. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 5%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Pizza Delivery, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Book Publishing industries.

Crime is a serious problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Naimen's national animal is the wolf, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dolarish.

It's been a while since I last played nationstates...

The Disputed Territories of New Yanfi
"For the Glory of Another Tomorrow"

UN Category: Compulsory Consumerist State
Civil Rights: Excellent Economy: Strong Political Freedoms: Few

Location: The Great Waste
The Disputed Territories of New Yanfi is a tiny, socially progressive nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 6 million are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

The small, pro-business government concentrates mainly on Law & Order, although Defence and Commerce are on the agenda. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 3%. A robust private sector is led by the Retail, Pizza Delivery, and Cheese Exports industries.

Elections have been outlawed. Crime is a major problem. New Yanfi's national animal is the pheonix and its currency is the gold piece.
One day...

Ok, now I've recieved my second endorsement which means... PYJAMA PARTY! Oh yes, and also that we can now post our own proposals for the UN council to argue about.

Any ideas?

The Empire of Namesarealltaken

"Since we can't buy you, we'll kill you off!"
UN Category: Inoffensive Centrist Democracy
Civil Rights: Below Average Economy: Good Political Freedoms: Good
Location: The Great Waste

The Empire of Namesarealltaken is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its strong anti-business politics. Its hard-working population of 5 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Social Welfare, with areas such as Law & Order and Defence receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 40%. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Pizza Delivery.

Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control. Namesarealltaken's national animal is the panzer, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the gold ingot.

Thanks to me.

I suggest we vote special honors for me, as well as a holiday set on June 14th every year which will be called "Sausage party".

Edit : I just noticed my nation had a tax rate of 64% and much higher for rich people. Woah.

death penalty mebbe?
Kashluk

Post by Kashluk »

Hm... If you mean *allowing* death penalty, it will be tricky. The categories which it *could* fit are the following:

HUMAN RIGHTS - A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.
INTERNATIONAL SECURITY - A resolution to improve world security by boosting police and military budgets.
MORAL DECENCY - A resolution to restrict civil freedoms in the interest of moral decency.
POLITICAL STABILITY - A resolution to restrict political freedoms in the interest of law and order.

And I don't think it fits in any of those... It must be from one of the categories (the rest you can look for yourself) or otherwise it will be dismissed.

---

s4ur0n27, in Finland we have roughly that kind of tax in RL. About 50% from all and much higher from the wealthy -> Scandinavian Liberal Paradise :)

+ I support the idea of celebrating 14th of June as our "regional holiday". See The Great Waste - page...

---

By the way, The People's Republic of Tamarasistan seems to be doing dandy:

UN Category: Psychotic Dictatorship
Civil Rights: Unheard Of
Economy: Struggling
Political Freedoms: Unheard Of

The People's Republic of Tamarasistan is a small, safe nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its cynical population of 9 million are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, moralistic, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is effectively ruled by the Department of Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Education receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 54%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Arms Manufacturing.

Genetic researchers have been expelled, Harry Potter books are banned, organ donation is compulsory, and public nudity is compulsory. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Tamarasistan's national animal is the dolphin, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the tamaria.

These issues have severe consequences. All I did was rule that elections were unnecessary because I wanted an autocracy, and I end up as a psychotic dictatorship? And now the people want to eat my national animal? Actually that sounds just fine.

I can't think of anything else then, that'd fit in one of those categories :|

Our taxes in Quebec goes from 0 to 54%.
The average is far from 64 D:

Me :

The Republic of Susanus is a small, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its punitive income tax rates. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 9 million are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Law & Order, and Education. The average income tax rate is 64%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Arms Manufacturing.

Elections have been outlawed and the government is attempting to revitalize a gutted private sector. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Susanus's national animal is the parrot, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the token.

Susanus is ranked 13th in the region and 47,566th in the world for Largest Agricultural Sector

Yeah, everything in the game is greatly exaggerated. But you'll learn to live with it. Just make a couple of decisions in the other direction and you'll end up somewhere in-between those two extremes.

I just wish I could make more decisions quickly. Waiting for issues to come up takes too long.
