Have played it, still do on occasion, but it's the original that holds my eye. Their efforts are to be respected, their results are to be enjoyed. Irrespectively, they are very different experiences despite their (superficial ?) similarities. It <strike>may be</strike>
is the crooning of nostalgia - I remember the purchase of a copy in '98, I indulged multiplayer sporadically for just shy of eight years.
TA holds a place in my memories that will not easily be dislodged.
Spring is a different lizard.

Dwarf Fortress. Keep giving up because I start to starve around the mid-late winter, or I just get bored with early successes and give up in year two for lack of an eventfulness. Still a complete failure at this game.

Back on SimCity 4 again. Most of the city love me. Except the people downtown. They keep rioting, so I'm knocking down their houses and zoning the land for commercial use. Why try and win over dissenters when you can just boot them out?

I feel the same playing Unreal World.

I found Age of Empires (and II) Gold Edition at a Walmart, and me and my room mate each bought a copy as a house warming gift for one another and we played a game for a few hours last night. God help me I'm going to sink so many hours into this game again.

Dwarf Fort? The purpose of Dwarf Fort is to last longer than the game before but still lose in one of the most graphic and fucked up ways possible.
For instance, I had a town that was doing really well for like a year and a half, I was building a big statue of a gecko and I got bored, so I sealed off half of my city behind a stone wall and had the half that was sealed in to dig deeper until they accidentally cracked open hell's ceiling. Unfortunately they got through the seal in the wall and everyone, like 74 dorfs, were slaughtered.
Pretty fun game.

It's a clusterfuck to pick up, but fun. I need to abandon the "figure it out myself" thing I've been doing and start reading up on how to do shit the right way, but yeah. Get it, Sus. It's fun.

It looks terribly fucking bad. I'm not sure.

Have you passed into the graphics = gameplay stage, Sus? Tsk tsk. If you actually try it I guarantee, if nothing else, an absurd amount of depth and some wild fucking things to do. May not like it, but at least you'll grasp that it's a hell of a lot deeper than ASCII graphics would imply.

Dorf Fwartress is the only game I have encountered where you can engineer midgets to be kicked to death by demonic (if only by reason of behaviour) elephants, and where such elephants are reasonably mundane and frighteningly common. For that, alone, it would be worthy of accolade. Duckily, it has many other reasons for being splendid.
Wasn't someone working on a tileset for the whores ? I CANNOT REMEMBER.

I've got Starcraft 2 and beat it, but I've been a bit addicted to a gametype called Nexus Wars.

Vicky2 will be had soon enough, waiting for a patch or two before I waste time. SC2 was steamrolled in rapid succession. I still play online from time to time with friends, but my computer is pretty shit so I lag.

Good call. The game's a bit too buggy to enjoy just yet. But the guys at Paradox have informed that updating V II is their top priority right now.
