Well, that's a long standing problem with the genre. It's really real time tactics more than anything else.

The more I see of Supreme Commander the more I want to believe PC gaming isn't doomed. But it's like any moment someone will pull the rug out from under the whole thing.

That looks goddamn awesome.

It's so good to see PC gaming totally dominated E3 this year. There was insane hype around the Nintendo Wii then piles of great looking PC titles. Supreme Commander, Spore, Bioshock, Hellgate London, Crysis, Dark Messiah, a bunch of other crazy shit all got way more attention than people want to admit. I'm even happier to see Sony and the PS3 fail miserably this year and the only interesting 360 game was Gears of War.

Uhhh... have you missed MGS4? Or Super Smash Brothers or whatever? And the Paper Mario shit?

Well, I don't really care if PC is dominating or not. If it becomes a losing market we may even see more interesting games. Just like it was long ago.

The only thing of MGS4 I saw was more prerendered bullshit. That other stuff you mentioned goes into the Wii hype. Nintendo pretty much won E3. But the PC had the best showing with the most games that were playable and not crap. By crap I mean none of the best titles were a sequel or part of a dying franchise. Bioshock and Spore are being widely regarded as the best of show or something.

What was on spore MM?

Anything radical? Was there a release date involved?

There's several Spore videos floating around. One of them is more than 400 MB and features Robin Williams playing and loving it. Another is the folks at G4 struggling to understand something that isn't controlled via gamepad. Graphically it's way ahead of what was previewed at GDC a year or 2 ago. My only gripe is you cannot design a mammalian looking creature. No fur as far as I can tell. Everything looks like a frog/insect hybrid.

I don't get the whole point of spore. Do you make a creature that evolves over time into a civilization and keeps getting bigger? None of the previews describe it very well.

Fuck Spore. It's just a big biology lesson, and if I wanted one of those, I'd currently be a biologist and horribly depressed because I'd be a biologist.

And biology sucks.
