You say that like it's a bad thing.

As for the PS3 bluray thing, loads of people payed a lot of money for a PS2 at launch (450€ where I live) because it didn't look expensive taking into account it could also play DVDs.

Of course when DVDs became common and there was a *need* for DVD players they were already available for less than 200$ and it turned out the PS2 was a pretty shitty DVD player.(image quality problems, reliability etc)

With the PS3 we don't even know if bluray will become the standard, and if it gets picked up ,chances are there will be cheap bluray players by then.

Buying a bluray player now would be akin to upgrading your computer for a game which hasn't come out yet, sure it runs any game fine now, but by the time that game you upgraded for comes out you may have to play it in low res.

Don't get a GC. The RE games are great, but the system is not.

I've got the PS2, XBOX, and GameCube. The one that gets the most play-time is the GameCube because it has all the party games that are nonsense and fun. Then we use the XBOX for all the racing games like Burnout and games like Shenmue and GTA. PS2 we have exclusively for Hot Shots Golf, Monster Rancher, Kingdom Hearts, and Jack & Daxter. Got the PS2 for $99, so it's just our random game system. If we see a game for $3 or $4 we'll get it for the PS2...It's got the cheepest games by far.

Also have the DreamCast with about 250 games...Didn't have to pay for them, of course because DreamCast has the easily exploitable software flaws.

As for PC...I've got 3 games installed right now. SimCity 2000 SE, Gothic I, and Monopoly Deluxe (for DOS). Another game I plan to check out on the PC is "City Life." It looks quite entertaining.

I have all three systems too. I never use the PS2. The XBox almost never. The only system I actually use is the Gamecube. The games have the best replayability. It's easy to pick up and play and the games are fun as hell. I've probably played Mariokart more than any other game I have and it's a racing game. I hate racing games but Nintendo just makes the best games. The only system I plan to spend any money on is the Wii. I'm not wasting money on the PS3. The blue-ray player probably wont even work right. Screw the 360. The Wii is the only system I'm excited about. It's the only system that actually seems "next-generation".

The only reason I'm not getting a Wii is because of the controllers. I've seen the videos of Metroid and Zelda being played on the system, and that's just a pain in the ass. I don't want to have to jump around and do all that crap to shoot something, I just want to strafe, press fire, and be done with it...without having to get out of my chair. The Wii will have some tight games, I'm sure...I really wanted that Zelda game...But I don't want to pretend I'm holding a bow to shoot Link's bow in the game. How retarded.

If I was a parent, I'd not buy one for my kid because the kid will get tired of moving around all the time. It'll enchant them for about a week and then they will never play it. I wouldn't want to play it because playing games is supposed to be relaxing...So there's a waste of however much the system costs.

Those are the promo videos, the games don't actually work like that, you don't have to move out of your chair and jump for metroid and you don't have to act like you're holding link's bow. The remote control movement is minimal(there is a degree of calibration).

For this zelda the changes are fluff compared to the gamecube version, instead of aiming the bow/boomerang/fisihing pole with the analog stick you use the remote instead, and considering the only parts of the game where you have to actually make aim are the mini-games(everything else is done with the lock-on thing) it's not that much of a change, at least it certainly doesn't deserve the one year delay the game had because of them.

Hell, if subhuman likes resident evil then he should get the GC. It's a resident evil paradise for their fans. You got a complete remake of the first one plus you got a prequal in the same style of the first three games and then you get the super RE4. I regretted getting a GC until Re4 came out a couple years later, I lucked out.

I've learned to never buy a console for games that will come out in the future. Buy them for the here and now, its the safest.

I'm going to bitch and moan until the very end when I end up with all three systems...again.

Any idea if the Wii is still going to have the "classic" games available? If it did...Well...I'd consider getting it. Then again, if it requires a broadband connection and a subscription, then screw it.

EDIT: Okay..The Wii has a "classic" controller. Good enough for me. I'll get a Wii. Seriously, the "remote" was the only reason I wouldn't get one...But since they've got a real controller, then it's the first on my list.

The 'real' controller was meant mostly for the classic games that you could download. Don't expect all games to have normal game controls except for the next SSBs game, where the guy saying to keep your GC controller.

If I had to get one, I'd get the Wii. Any decent Xbox 360 game will come out on the PC (and there don't seem to be that many great games out for it anyway), PS3 doesn't have many interesting games going for it.. .Wii has all the nintendo exclusives which you know are going to be high quality.

I'd go for the console that has GTA but since that's now non-exclusive... or is it exclusive to the xbox now? Can't remember.

It'll probably be exclusive FOR EVER ( meaning a year ) and then port it's ass over to the pc with a bigger block of settings.
