Not really a nit-pick, Doyle. I'd say that's a good question.

The thing is that the DE is gas operated, and so in any caliber you're better off w/a revolver since you'll have higher Muzzle Velocity. The capacity of a DE doesn't give any real advantage over a revolver (7-9 shots vs. 5-6) either, especially since if one is combing the brush for game one ought not go with a "spray and pray" mentality.

You can hit out at a farther distance with those cartridges than you can with a .357 Magnum. Besides some guns were made to simply be played with, bragging rights. I want a Desert Eagle, I've never fired one but it's one of those guns that you take out to the range every so often to show off. Just another big expensive toy that goes boom. I suppose you could use it for defense because having something like that pointed at your head is pretty scary, I've never had a firearm pointed at me but having something pointed at me that can make my face disapear would probably cause me to stop what i was doing and try to get control of my bowels back.

suppose you could use it for defense because having something like that pointed at your head is pretty scary, I've never had a firearm pointed at me but having something pointed at me that can make my face disapear would probably cause me to stop what i was doing and try to get control of my bowels back.

Anything pointed at your head that can make your life come to an abrupt end will cause you to stop doing whatever it was your doing, that includes fucking your neighbor's super hot daughter.

Knee caps are fickle things to hit, especially in low light situations, just pop him in the chest, you're defending yourself, a guy who attacks you when you find him stealing your T.V. for food deserves what he gets. That's the ultimate karma, you fuck up enough without anything major happening and you'll find yourself awaiting the end of time far away.

I'll add my experience's with the .50, if hadn't already...but first you need large ass hands to fire the DE. I left after 2 box's ( 40 rounds ) with my right ear ringing, my right hand tingling and little cuts on my forehead from the casings banging off my face ( I didn't think I need a hat for the love of god. My buddy missed his head by literally an inch from the recoil and people from other rooms where coming in to see what was making the noise. Assuming you can fire it with accuracy with follow up shots, the fucking weapon is devastating. I'd personally want, say, a P99 in a fight, but if you need to hit someone way the fuck out there, or through a brick wall, or a car, or through more than one person, the DE is the way to go.

Maximum punch from an semiauto, regardless of the 8 rnd capacity(7 in the .50 ), you can quickly slam another clip in which is more enjoyable than loading a revolver ( the lovely and devastating .454 ) and continue your maiming and destruction on both property and soft( and hard )bodies.

Actually, I did six months in an infantry platoon. I was a brand-spanking new 19K and arrived in my battalion only days before Desert Storm kicked off. They were already at 120% strength in my MOS, so I got shunted off to the Mortar Platoon to play patty-cake with the 11Cs. Since we didn't have any attached infantry in our
task force that platoon got to do all of the dismounted fun.

My PLT SGT and PLT LDR wanted to put me in for a CIB and were even willing to fudge some paperwork to get me the MOS. But they would have had to backdate shit to before I was in the Army, so that kinda got nixed.

The most meaningful lesson I learned while in the Gulf: Mortars eat their young. (And they truly are the bastard, red-headed step-children of the Army, too.)

You're pretty well-rounded yourself, Hammer. It's not often you find people that can rattle on about pretty much anything in the 20th Cent., most folks usually have their favorite period and don't know shit outside of it.

Edit: BTW, for those of you who look down on infantry: don't. Some toys are sexier than others, but it ain't over 'til you've got a man w/a rifle in someone's front yard, and that means infantry.

Thanks to US (and Allied to a lesser extent) technological dominance in the air, at sea an in open terrain at night; the best chance any potential enemy has of defeating the US and her Allies is to draw them into a daytime urban battle where all expensive toys (tanks and helicopters) are vulnerable and air and artillery firepower can't be effectively used without hitting friendies or civillians.

You want to win an urban day battle? Bring lots of highly trained and disciplined light infantry and don't be surprised when some of them don't come back upright....

I think im the only person on this board to be a victim of the insane criminal protection in the UK.

I have guns. They arnt that hard to get in the UK as long as you have a large amount of land, you can get a grade 1 fire arms license with little or no hassel.

Anyway back onto the main topic, recently some bastard tried to break into my garage, the first time the security lights scared him off so he tears down the drive and out of my land. I phone the police and report it and the cars registration, they say they will send a patrol car around to make sure he doesnt come back.

4 hours later the shites back drives back up the drive gets his crowbar out and continues to try to lever open the intruder proof wooden garage door, i take note of the number plate and go out to say hello. I kindly inform him that if he tresspases in my property again i will kneecap the fucker. He promptly drives off full pelt a second time, again a report it to the police along with the car registration.

The next morning i am awoken to find a police car outside my house, "fantastic" it thought they either need me to make a statement or ID the perp. No. They were there to deliver me my first and final warning for fire arms abuse. The shit had phoned the police and told them id threatened to shoot him, they dont arrest him, they have a go at me. The simple threat of force against someone illegaly on my property attempting to steal my belongings is enough to get you fucked over.

Its a fucking shambles.

Tony martin owning a pump action wasnt illegal, they however can only have a 2 magazine shot capacity.

its a matter of some debate because the gun wasnt found to have been modified but the gypsy scum he shot alleged he fire off 6 rounds.

I thought it was a side-by-side, ah well, point is, England's Judicial system is fucked over hardcore. Simply said, it's a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. That's has to take some balls of steel to try and break into someone's house, get scared off by the lights, come back later, get threatened by the homeowner, scurry off and tell the police that whilst attemting to steal your shit you threatened to shoot him. And people say this is a horrble country to live in? Thank God for the Second Ammendment. Dosn't the English Bill of Rights (I'm quite sure there is one, I read about it, or was that a dream...) have something about the right to bear arms? I'm sure I read that (possibly in the dream). That's a real kick in the pants though. Crime is skyrocketing, the populace is defenseless since self-defense is illegal, you're limited to very few types of firearms and ver few of them, except shotguns would be any good in a defensive situation and they're calling for stricter gun control laws! Madness I say, madness. I just hope that one day those "sensible" gun laws will be revoked, I'll wouldn't ready my parka though.
