No armor, but using whatever weapon desired? Or no armor, using only a certain weapon?

Hmm.. I know, no armor, and no weapons. Unarmed and unarmored the whole way :)

At least I can get some bonus defense from the HTH evade perk when I can get it.

I already decided to go with a leather, single shot pistol & sniping combination, but I can finish that character later. I'll go ahead and try it with nothing.

Hmm.. guess I'll need to save up a LOT of healing items :P

healing items won't save you. You'll need a hellaova lot of AC and DR perks invested.

Psycho will be helpful too.

The best perks in the game will be those implants. At least I can trade in all those guns and armor for the money to get those.

But first things first, my first three perks are definitely going to be Toughness.

In all my games I tend to have an insanely huge surplus of weapons. I tend to end the game with about 10 shotguns in my inventory which I just couldn't sell anything worthwhile for.

You can sell a lot in san francisco, although most of the time I remember buying stuff there and then stealing all my money back :)

They really should have more money on the vendors, its irritating. Money is like the rarest thing in the game, and yet its in the highest demand. Everyone wants huge gobs of it :-/

I think I might tag gambling later.. not sure. Seems like it would be a good skill for getting money though.

OH, I decided to go with small frame (not much of a handicap) and heavy handed. I'll mutate heavy handed to gifted later on.

I've never tried it before. Can you get your stats over 10 by using mutate/gifted in FO2?

I've taken out the rat king and saved modoc. Still not a good level (like maybe 5). Maybe Vault City and New Reno will yeild good exp. Im having a hard time with people.

Oh that applies to me too. I think my attributes are fairly accurate, with the extra ones dumped into Luck. Certainly didn't need to use Gifted!

Regarding money management, from New Reno on I seem to acquire way more stuff than I need. Renesco is a good place to trade excess stuff for drugs, which weigh little or nothing and can be traded for ammo if you run low somewhere else. Or you can just keep tossing things in the car trunk and trading it for cash when desired.

Even with crappy barter and gambling skills, it is pretty easy to make money in F2. Maybe too easy. Why work at any of the low-paying jobs offered at various places when so much loot is lying around for the taking?

Well that's true. I just think equipment and money should be harder to acquire, maybe like it is before you get to New Reno. Up until then, the loot level seems reasonably balanced. For example, the first time you get into Vault City, the stores have alot of things you'd really like to buy, but you can only afford a few of them and must make difficult choices. From New Reno on though, it's EZ MONEY.

Yeah, I just love that one shop where you can sneak in the back and steal all that junk :P

I did the boxing thing (had to wait a level or so on the masticator, he kept biting my ear off and my charisma was low enough at 4). I now have the bonuses from being a prize fighter, both the first implant upgrades, the expert excrement expeditor (+1 strength), living anatomy, and 3 x melee damage perks.

I can kill lesser stuff in one hit, and stuff like large scorpions in one eye hit. Despite heavy handed she gets lots of criticals when I hit them in the eye.

I've killed Lo Pan in San fran.

I also got the dog and the vertibird plans from Navarro WITHOUT wearing the power armor. Luckily I got in with the password and they just thought I was a recruit wondering around without any PA and kept telling me to go get it :P Of course, that didn't keep me from grabbing it on the way out to give to vick (I sold sulik and cassidy for 2k each). Giving the vertibird plans to Matt let me get living anatomy, and now im building up by killing low level critters near arroyo.

At least I can kill people now, so some of the earlier quests will be possible.

I just got the Star Trek encounter. It kinda sucked since the phaser gun wasn't implemented. That would have been cool to find for one of my helpers. I guess they thought it wouldn't look right as a pistol. At least I got the three hypos.

That's an interesting idea.

My unarmored unarmed girl is now level 19. Its really hard to level up now and people are still tearing her to shreds. I've just about run out of quests to do. I may have to go ahead and get those other two implants. I may let her become a porn star first tho. Or would that get any experience or bonuses to her stats? I know it can yield a bit of money but not sure of any other possible benefits.

I got scanned at the hubologists but only got 1 luck. I tried it several times but couldn't figure out how to get 2 luck. It'd either always go down one or up one. Oh well, at least I have 6 luck now.

I also got that pariah dog encounter. Had a time wasting the mutt later when I realized that he ALSO lowered my luck to 1. Sorry excuse for a party member. Plus nobody would EVER target him. I had to trap him against a door and beat him to death. Took like forever.

Im really stressed for a place to build up. I should be able to do most of the redding quests now. She can take on mid level enemies like the wannimingos if its one on one but otherwise they get around her and do too much damage.

In the meantime, im a little bored with her and may work on a different character.I've never played as a purely combat oriented character before, so I started one named Duke (as in Duke Nukem). I'll let him be a mutie hater and kill them on sight. Should be interesting. Although I'll have to get the quest from that one ghoul in Gecko so I can kill that one in the coffin :)

Hmm.. should he be a druggie? He's also a big fan of women, so maybe I should let him free any woman he comes across. Gotta do some of the minor quests and get him a bit powerful before I do any character building, sadly :-/

Maybe I'll just run on down to navarro and get my power armor.

Doesn't Max have a Mauser at the begining of Thunderdome? In one of the only scenes worth watching, when he pulls a gun on the receptionist guy and then shoots the headress of the small guard.

IIRC you get exp points from what you kill during a random encounter? So the toughest enemies would yield the most exp points, so roam around the Navarro/SanFran/Military Base area, looking for Enclave Patrols, Remnants of the Master's Army, and Centaur/Floater herds.

You might also get a lot of exp going on a cattle drive. They seem to attract mutants and other high exp point attackers.

Just waste a few children, then you'll have plenty of difficult random encounters.
