So howabout them games? I'm looking for decent ones to play.

Discuss anything from Age of Empires to Wasteland. Any gaming talk that isn't Fallout-related goes here.

Black screen as in black screen and crash or black screen and freeze?
PIP wrote:so basically instead of fixing the cutscenes you're just getting rid of them altogether?
That's fixing them. I actually doubt it's the codecs, more likely the cutscenes themselves are corrupted and fucking me over, so any other alternative is unthinkable.

Mega, uninstall the game, reboot (then possibly clean reg and reboot again), install, patch, change exe. if u still have problems edit cfg accord. to what Toxic says.

1] Add "skip_intro" to cam.cfg
2] Add "safe_texture_manager" to both cam.cfg and shock.cfg.
3] Remove all the cutscene lines from install.cfg

I've done all that stuff. Compatability modes, editing all the cfgs. Perhaps alter something in directx or graphics card configuration?

I can hear sounds on the menu, I start a new game. The load screen comes up and it fully loads, then black screen and nothing happens. I have to alt-tab out and then close it in windows.

I edited the registry as before there wasn't even a string for ss2, but i made one up and the patch said it was already patched so thats okay. The only thing I haven't really tried is a fixed exe or whatever, but then it says it can't find the cd anyway.

Any other basic thing I've missed out on?

That sounds familiar and I think its easy to fix.
There is one patch at http://www.brave.net.nz/shock2_xp_2000_fix.zip that fixes the problem with the screen going black after starting a new game. If you use this patch you should not use any compatability modes though.
Edit: Oh and I played some coop with Pip. It was funky.

Yeah do that. If it still goes "Blah" I'll send you a securom thing that should cover for it.

EDIT: How did it not work? For the love of all that's holy, specify what kind of problems you're getting. In fact, get on #Fallout for live support and c6.

Did the first SS have co-op? I don't have either of them installed.

None of Toxie's magical fixes worked for me.

I'm downloading another version of the game now. Perhaps it'll work. D:

But hamachi is a nice easy thing to use for retarded people like myself who can't be arsed doing it the "other" way.

No, and originally neither did SS2. It was added as a patch.

I noticed synchronization took less time when using hamachi, than over regular tcp/ip.
