Well I have to cite something that at least portrays to have a neutral standpoint.Blargh wrote:Wikipedia, TG ? You cite . . . Wikipedia ? The inconstant ocean of misinformation ? You poor, sad, repugnant bastard.
I say this with love.
I tried opening some encyclopedias and take snapshots of me pointing at the text with an earnest look in my eyes, but it didn't go that well.

Since when does afew suicide bombers killing some American soldiers = Total Ownage? It's not like we were even really fighting them. I have no doubt in my mind that if Lebanon pissed off the wrong people then, it'd have been blown back into the gravel age. It wouldn't even be called Lebanon anymore, it'd be called Parkinglotistan.
It's not Lebanon, anyway. It's whatever HAMAS wants to call it.
off topic? OMG YOU'VE BEEN CENSORED... yet you're still posting. MYSTARY!!!!

Okay, "pwnd" was a crude way to put it, I just wanted to point out that a lot of Hezbollah's weapons are US made and not all are Iranian based like everyone keeps raving about.
But about the Beirut bombings, indeed the US was indirectly involved in the conflict then (1983) and was pretty much in support of the IDF as they are now, so they were pretty big sitting ducks.
I can't think of anyone mightier than the US whom Hezbollah could have pissed off, remember that after the Beirut marine barracks bombings Reagan promised to keep troops stationed there because pulling out would be "giving in to the terrorists" and he also promised to attack those responsible in Lebanon. He didn't do either.

Well I don't think the US was pissed off, they just wanted to get out of harms way. Reagan wasn't a touchy feely president, and it's not like he was getting sound advice anyways being that he listened to his wife's bullshit astrology (I forget if he was doing so at this point, but that's not important) so I really don't think he'd have hesitated to send in more troops then Carter's got liver pills.

You rarely see Hezbollah using M-16s on <insert mainstream media I watch here>. I didn't even know they had them. Makes sense, though.Mekano wrote:Okay, "pwnd" was a crude way to put it, I just wanted to point out that a lot of Hezbollah's weapons are US made and not all are Iranian based like everyone keeps raving about.
