For NWN 1 there was a great mod called DreamCatcher.
It exceeded the original game and you could actually fly a dragon and raid some villages near the ocean.
Cool stuff.

atoga - As far as I know yes on all counts. I even saw a very early version of a Fallout mod but I think it died in the water.

So I take it you didn't see the big button at the very beginning that said something along the lines of "Skip Tutorial"? Maybe the devs should have made it flash like a strobe light to attract the notice of idiots.
There are a lot of things to complain about in NWN2, mainly the technical incompetence of Obisidian and the way they left out useful features of the original game, and you can complain about the way Atari doesn't actually provide any technical support for the game, but to complain about a tutorial that you can skip is pretty fucking moronic.

There is a Modern Mod pack with modern buildings and weapons (and it may have some sci-fi stuff as well, not sure).
As to FO, I saw a FO-based NWN module at NW Vault but in the introduction the author sounded like a real idiot so I passed on it.
