Man, I was never aware that we had Bill Gates here in Porto Alegre all this time. Thank you, patriot, for now I can begin the cleansing of Porto Alegre and Rio Grande do Sul itself.Redeye wrote:stuff

I like Finnish bandsThor Kaufman wrote:you are just jealous because no one likes finnish bandsKashluk wrote:Pretty stupid to name a single band to be the ultimate greatest bestest tuffest rock band 4evah omg lol. Not to mention that defining, categorizing and limiting any artists to a single "rock" category and completely ignoring any subcategories or new categories spawned from and within rock & roll is utterly stupid (indeed the utter shit )
Most of the bands mentioned had a great influence and shit, but it's undeniable that newer bands (of course) are better since they learned from their predecessors' mistakes and refined music that was brilliant already. It's kind of CAPTAIN OBVIOUS COMES TO SAVE THE DAY and shit, but hey, that makes this whole thread pointless.
Although Korn is shitty no matter what + they had no impact on anything whatsoever - except teenage suicide rates or something.
~~my band is better than yours~~
But just probably not the ones that he mentioned.

I'm not talking about specific songs. Songs are songs, but they get titled "classics" even when they are shit if published today. I'm talking about the whole wave of music, new styles and stuff.PiP wrote:no. It doesn't work like that. It's not that simple. Nobody fucking 'refined' best songs of Doors, Queen, or Beatles.Kashluk wrote: it's undeniable that newer bands (of course) are better since they learned from their predecessors' mistakes and refined music that was brilliant already.
Yes there are new good bands but what they do is good in a different way - not that old material 'refined'.

There are no 'knowns'. There are thing we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know. So when we do the best we can and we pull all this information together, and we then say well that's basically what we see as the situation, that is really only the known knowns and the known unknowns. And each year, we discover a few more of those unknown unknowns.
If it's mild, progressive old rock then I'll have to go with Emerson, Lake and Palmer or Jethro Tull.
If it's newer, darker I'll say Tool.
And finally, if it's almost-extreme metal it'll be Metallica (a bit mellow though), Down or Black Label Society.
Also, how about the old blues or rock 'n roll? Like ZZ Top or Chuck Berry?
