Finally got to see Dark Knight at a 10pm showing Friday. Every previous show was sold out or near sold out. In short, the movie was awesome. It blows away Batman Begins and just about every previous Batman movie. I still prefer the original Tim Burton one mainly because of the world he created vs. the modern day Toronto or wherever Begins/Dark Knight were filmed.
I never cared for Heath Ledger before. I've seen a few of his movies and tv show Roar and he was always the annoying teen who needed a haircut. His Joker was so good it would have made his career if he hadn't died like an asshole. I loved Jack Nicholson as the Joker, but he didn't have to try very hard to get the character. Ledger really did his homework and totally nailed it. From the cackling laugh to the strange mannerisms such as licking his lips and the way he walked, the eyes, his total self confidence and the way he joked about his own pain. Damn it was good.

Saw it again. Made Cloud see it. Still epic. And Walt, he didn't fall three million feet and live, he used his cape like a parachute, fool. The same one he flies around on, so if you can believe that you can certainly believe he can slow a fall with it.

If he was falling so slowly, why did he crush a car? Sorry, your logic doesn't hold.
Edit: Also, his cape is fully up in that scene, implying it isn't acting much as a parachute. Even if it WAS, parachutes don't suddenly stop you from being at terminal velocity 2 feet after they're deployed. Again. Your logic doesn't hold.

It's not logic, it's what happened. Watch the scene. His cape is rigid the whole time as soon as he grabs her, just listen to the audio. And again, if you can believe the cape allows him to soar around China you should be fully accepting of it parachuting his fall. And he crushed a car because he's freaking batman and he is evil and like to hurt people.Wolfman Walt wrote:If he was falling so slowly, why did he crush a car? Sorry, your logic doesn't hold.

Ya his cape was somewhat catching air, still not enough to probably live from it but like everyone else said, it's because he is batman. It was kind of like those scenes from movies with parachutes and then like their chute gets caught on fire and they go down faster but enough to live.

Saw the movie over the weekend. All in all I thought it was a good movie. Not great (after all, it's no Red Dawn) but good. I really liked Ledger as a villain, but not as the Joker. I can't pinpoint anything exactly, he just didn't feel like the Joker to me but as I said he did play a great villain.
The whole damn movie was just to fucking long. Several times I started to get out of my seat because I figured it had reached the logical ending point only to be hit with MORE movie. They probably could have split it into two movies and had a more satisfying Two-Face experience with a second full length movie.
I kind of wanted to see somebody on the ferries turn the key. I had a feeling that it would have been wired to the same boat they were on but I guess they needed a little touchy humanity in the movie.
I liked the whole look of Gotham in this movie. Between the guy they got to play Gordon and the feel of the city it almost felt more like the No Mans Land series (great graphic novels if you haven't read them, find them).
Bale does play a respectable Bat Man and would probably pay to see him in this role again. I guess my only real gripe with the movie was it's length but other than that it was good.

Obviously you didn't or you would've noticed.Wolfman Walt wrote:I did. Why didn't you?jetbaby wrote:Watch the scene.
And for the record I don't understand the gripe against the length? Check your ritalin scrip? As long as the movie has something to say for any abnormal length it is only fitting that they say it rather than cut it short. I noticed it was long but it didn't bug me because it wasn't poor editing or anything of that nature that kept it long, it was just a long story to push out.

I felt the same way. He wasn't the typical funny Joker most of us remember, but more a sadistic serial killer. I mean, he had the coat full of gags but never used them. Sill, the pencil trick and the look on his face the whole movie was pretty awesome. Oh, and the sick guy in jail.Machiavelli wrote:Saw the movie over the weekend. I think it was round about right, cause i did not get bored like i usually do in long movies.Wolfman Walt wrote:Then why are you making shit up? UNLESS YOU DIDN'T WATCH IT. Oh snap. I can do this all day.jetbaby wrote:Obviously you didn't or you would've noticed.
As for it being too long. It WAS too long. You can say a movie is too long when you can shave out about 40 minutes and make a MUCH better movie.

I just saw it again last night but on IMAX. I told my friend to get some seats and leave my ticket at the consession stand because I will be coming directly from work. He says there is no line so we should be fine and he would just wait for me in the lobby and we get into the theater like 10 minutes before it starts and the whole fuckin theater was filled, we had to sit in the very first row and tilt our heads back all the way and literally had to move our heads to see all the stuff on the screen. Add to the fact some some swell guy behind me kept shakin their leg on some sticky floor so it kept making that sound when you step on a sticky floor. I told him to please stop but he kept doing it anyways.
I was hoping to see TDK on like the best thing there is but it ended up being a bit shit, kind of a waste. I think 2 viewings is plenty unless you want to get like a real IMAX experience which I didn't get.

I saw it in IMAX and really wasn't that impressed. I don't know much about IMAX but I know it lends a sense of flying in the few movies I watched at the Air Force Museum when I was younger. There just really wasn't enough in the movie to justify IMAX, it was just like watching it on a really big screen.
