Anyone else feel like this game runs worse the original? I barely got by with the original but this one is kind of pushing it over the edge with shit performance. I guess i could lower it to 800 x 600 resolution from 1024x768 but im already on minimum details and I kind of want to keep my dignity.

It's all the new lighting they added to it, and now the ground is bump mapped everywhere as well as having wetness effects all over it.

Damn, this game is awful. I've been playing it for a while, having fun in the process, but this is ridiculous. When I exit the bandit hide-out I had to go to in order to get the 'compass'-artifact for the Forrester, the game freezes and crashes to the desktop. This must be some script-related error, because it happens on the same spot every time I try it.
I hope version 1.5.05 fixes this problem, otherwise I'm not sure I want to play this game any longer...

Anyone else got these kind of problems as well?

As Nico and Lord of the Peanut refer to, turn all yer fancy lighting shit off.
I run it at 1280x1024 at max everything else, but with lighting set to static only on my crappy 256MB 7600gt.
I'll be able to see it in full glory very very soon...when I manage to get my new ubar computer to stop BSOD-ing. Fucking computers :anger:

Faction wars is awfully broken and the rest of the Clear Sky just isn't that interesting. Your best bet is to get the original Stalker with the Oblivion Lost 2.2 mod. It's sweeeet.

Will check that out sometime, just wish they had made stalker load time free, as in with no links to differentmaps, but open ended like morrowind.

Gets a bit irritating when you are hauling a big ass stash of loot.

Yeah, you don't really need to carry around a fuckton of stuff. All you need is 2-3 guns w/ ammo, a suit and some artifacts

Post by Kashluk »

The stuff tends to just keep piling. I've started a stockpile of ammo around one base where I "ditch" my overleft ammunition that might come handy later on. I've got, like, 5000 rounds of 5.45x39, tons of grenades, bandages etc. waiting there for the mad killing spree.

Goddamn. I was unable to finish the game as every time I got about 3/4 of the way through my save continued to hang and was unplayable.

Only game I've tried to finish like three times and been fucked every single time. Yet, I still feel sorta amiable towards Clear Sky. At least the NPCs don't make you want to gouge your fucking eyes out like the Oblivion 2 npcs.

Awesome shit. Just found out about this mod:

Faction Commander, 2.0.

You can lead around a bunch of armed guys now. Pretty awesome shit.

Yeah man, I think Basix Monstrosity CS is probably the best mod for Clear Sky. Like Oblivion Lost it adds in a lot of removed monsters from the STALKER games, and it just revamps it and makes it more enjoyable. I recommend giving that a whirl next time you play through it.

Just played that for a while, looks like I need to ramp up the difficulty. The weapons they give you at the beginning make everything very easy. Other than that, I like what the mod does.
