Hello Trolls and Addicts,
After reading all 41 pages of this thread, I feel obligated to create an account and share some thoughts.
1) Dwarf-Fort is awesome. I still can't dig through aquifers. You need a good sherriff and lots of chains. Dwarfs start going berzerk after a few years.
2) Paradox Games are rich. VickiII needs lots of love and modding before I'll pick it up again though. One Paradox title that's awesome which was not mentioned was Crusader Kings. Gr3eat older game. You need the Deus Volt expansion pack to play it right though.
3) No one mentioned Close Combat 2. Great game alone or with a friend. The Newer Close Combats are interesting. I like the night battles. But only CC2 has real game balance that old school gamers love.
4) If anyone is up for a learning curve challenge the size of Dwarf Fort, you may try out armageddon.org It's a nasty MUD. Permadeath for all characters, so pick your battles with care (And use poisons).
5) What else, Oh....Shrapnel games has a couple great titles. My favorite there would be Dominions 3. (Played alot of Dom2, but Dom3 is the one on the market right now). Exceptional Fantasy War Game!!!!!
6) Um....It's not nice to mention. And I don't recommend anyone ever do this...but you could play Travian.com Quit your job. Break up with your family. Give your dog away....
Just some thoughts.
