Nice S&W there.

What I really want though is to get my 98k rechambered. I was thinking maybe 300 win mag, 338 win mag or 7mm remington. I'm leaning towards 338 but 7mm is close, suggestions?

EDIT:

Guns are overrated.

People kinda forgot the good feeling of crushing someones face with your bare fists. A very male (in a non homosexual way) an satisfying (again, in a non homosexual way) feeling :)

If I ever become a real masochist, I might buy me a .500 S&W snub. I can't imagine why they even make it as a snub, I guess it's for if a bear tries to rob you of your dignity or picnic baskets or something.

Why not just go buy a sporting rifle in those calibers? Most sprting arms are Mauser actions anyhow so you can't go with the, "Ooo, but I want it to be Mauser, heil!" excuse.

Probably be cheaper and easier, and faster and not gay, plus you have two guns instead of one and 8mm Mauser is still pretty darn cheap.

Yes, go buy a sporting arm in that caliber.

I've thought of that but...Mausers are so damn cheap.

But yes, I've seen a mighty nice Ruger 77 mk. II in .338 for $700. WHich comes out to just a little more than converting a mauser.

8 cents a round for bulk stuff.

Question: Where can I find some nice Martini Stocks?

Okay, so it cost you lets say $150 to buy the Mauser originally, you want to drop another $700 on it so it will be a different caliber. Total cost $850 and you have one gun.

Instead I say keep the Mauser 8mm and just buy another gun for the same $700, total cost $850, but you have two guns.

More is better, duder :drunk:

A chrome moly 338 barrel is $90, I have a scope, a nice synthetic stock is $100, a match-grade trigger is $80, and QR scope mounts $75.

But still, factory quality is the best kind, and 8mm is fun to shoot 200 rounds of for $16.
