I saw the tv movie Fail Safe on television last night. It left me with mixed feelings. Despite the similarities, it's not really comparative with Dr.Strangelove because the latter is a black comedy/satire but this one was live tv theater or whatever. The acting was a bit stiff in the beginning, but got better later in the film. I didn't like the fact it was filmed in black and white. While I usually have nothing again b&w movies, in this case color wouldn't have 'broken the illusion'. At least they should've added distortions and make it look old, in that case. Or use modern technology instead of trying something fancy. Boo CBS! The story wasn't anything spectacular if you've seen Dr.Strangelove and the ending turned out rather predictable. Not worth acquiring in my opinion, but if it runs on tv then it's viewable, I guess. I've yet to see the original.

I like the Stones, that track is a classic, of course. My favorite is Start me up, though B)

It was filmed in black and white because (depending on which version you've seen) it was a direct re-make of the original fail-safe, from the 50's or whatever. It was also filmed and shown live so I don't know quite what distortion you'd want added? That was the point, both versions were performed live.

The new version. I just thought black & white wasn't necessary, even though it was a remake. But since they did shoot in b&w, they should've shot it with old cameras or artifically made it look 'old'. Now the actors and props kinda looked too present day, if you know what I mean.

I'll try get hold of the old one and compare.

I´m currently watching the episodes of Elfenlied, a bloody anime series, its very bueno/gut so far. :pelvic_thrust2:

edit: i watched it a lil bit further, it gets a lil bit dragonballstyle after the 10th episode or so D: ... man, what did i expected.

lol Elfenlied

The opening alone had me floored. Fucking santa maria. Then there was more emo shit and stuff. I gave up after second episode. Not my league.

That evil commander dude was great though. *smack* "Don't stand behind me!". Truly a pinnacle of the series.

[Edit]Oh yah, so that you guys won't whine I hate everything again, I read a manga series called Blame! the other day, and it was half-decent. Wiki it up for more info.

i managed to watch all episodes, only for the blood effects, later it got more and more Dragonball style, WHOOT a new superior enemy, we need to fight him wiht our 1337tnes!1... etc. and the ending was almost non-existent.

plus lol i liked the opening and the german titles, dont know why, probably written by japanese pseudo nazis. Angel Sanctuary or something like that was still better. Cowboy Bebop is my favorite, it has this kind of feeling. -> B)

I saw Blame! on demonoid, i decided not to pick it up, i´ll take a second look.

What is that?

It looks trashy but I almost think it looks interesting too? Does this mean I have brain damage?

Don't bother. Word on the street is that it sucked. If that doesn't helps, Karl Urban.
