New post-apocalyptic Half Life 2 mod: Off Limits

Post by Mr. Teatime »

[Game -> Mod News (DO NOT USE - use MOD > UPDATE instead)]

This is something I read about in the latest issue of PC Gamer UK: a post-apocalyptic multiplayer Half Life 2 mod called Off Limits. As is the case with the vast majority of mods, it's a lot of ideas and not much implementation, but there's potential. One of the unique features of the mod seems to be that one team, the aliens, can only be killed with a certain weapon, and are invunerable to everything else, which you can read about in the mod's FAQ</ ... te>They were few, and they were unintelligent. But no weapons known to man at that time could harm them. They only attacked when in danger and were uncoordinated, but human nature took care of the rest. For six long years, we threw everything we had at them. No conventional weapons, no biological, chemical or nuclear weapons seemed to have any effect, other than the utter destruction of our world as we knew it. For six years, all humanity’s effort was aimed at researching new weapons to meet it’s slow but irreversible demise. At long last, chance seemed to be on our side for once. In our darkest hour, rail weaponry was our savior, and the first kill was cause for world-wide celebration.

The two concept paintings are sweet, but the rest is nonsense.

If the aliens "only attacked when in danger", why did humans start killing them in the first place?
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

Having a story for a multiplayer team shooter is a bit silly anyway.

For the same reason the buffalo no longer roam the praries.

Humans hunger for their testicles.
