IGN have put up the second part of their "Shooter Roundup 2005", which includes a look at STALKER.
Though the titles in this feature represent the most promising shooter offerings we'll get this year, STALKER is very the near the top of the list in terms of gamer anticipation. An intriguing blend of horror, RPG and shooter elements, STALKER takes place in the near future at the site of the Chernobyl disaster. Scientists who were sent in to investigate some strange new anomalies have since disappeared. The Russian military's shown up and cordoned off the area. The mystery of the missing scientists (and the recovery of valuable artifacts from the site) encourage the intervention of freelance, mercenary Stalkers who range through the area.
You play as one of these Stalkers, running missions within the zone for a variety of contacts. Tons of NPCs bring the world to life while a range of vehicles and weapons lets you take on the unnatural forces arrayed against you. The AI on the enemies promises to provide a reasonable challenge and is sophisticated enough to allow your enemies to team up on you in surprising ways. Some cool RPG elements give you the chance to develop in a unique way during the single player game. A whole passel of multiplayer options will be included as well.
STALKER is one of those games that's so pretty that you automatically think the screenshots are fake. Happily, having seen STALKER in action, we can say that it does indeed live up to the level of detail seen in the screens and movies. We get more and more anxious every time we get our hands on this one so you can bet we'll bring you more information as soon as we get it.
I'd be surprised if it hits that release date of May 14.

The FPSs of 2005
If we show up on Google, that means we will attract random search-engine using idiots. It's better to remain hidden and let NMA soak up the detritus (did I spell that right, cap'n?).
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
Exactly, as huge clots of idiocy crumble away like wet cake constantly, 'tis much better that another attract the fragments of fool and their unwitting wrathful urges. Few things are more dangerous than concentrated groups of idiots.atoga wrote:It's better to remain hidden and let NMA soak up the detritus (did I spell that right, cap'n?).
