If you want Van Buren stuff...
<strong>[Game -> Images]</strong> - More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... itle=Black Isle Studios">Company: Black Isle Studios</a> | More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... le=Fallout 3 (Van Buren)">Game: Fallout 3 (Van Buren)</a>
Well, <a href="http://www.duckandcover.cx/vanburen/ter ... .tif">here it is</a>
(right click and save as, 2 MB .tif file). I can imagine some forums
having orgasms over this, but I can't really get excited (despite the image looking nice enough). It's some
concept art from the ex-game <strong>Van Buren</strong>. DAC's 'allocation' was one image of the concept art for Junktown as envisaged by Black Isle for <em>Fallout 3</em>.
<a href="http://www.rpgdot.com">
RPGDot</a> and <a href="http://www.rpgcodex.com">RPGCodex</a> have been given one image as well, and <a href="http://www.nma-fallout.com">NMA</a> have three. Why? Don't ask me.
<strong>Person X </strong>sent the image along to me, and said it's from "someone" who is a collector of this sort of stuff.
<strong>Edit by King of Creation</strong>:  I've
converted the larger TIF
file to a smaller JPG, and uploaded it to our gallery.  You
can
click on the thumbnail below for the larger image.

<strong>Update</strong>: <a href="http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewto ... 11905">NMA now has the other two images up</a>, as well as an <a href="http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload. ... >animation </a>showing the <strong>Van Buren</strong> power armour.

I'm trying really hard to care. The game is dead. Let's get interested in something that's going to be released?
Though the way these pictures were allocated pissed me off. Oh well. Lots of things piss me off.

Well, it certainly never crossed my desk. Really, though, I'm not interested in some doomed vaporware project that's been dead for over a year. If Teatime wants it, give ours to him.
Now, if the ex-BIS guy has a picture of Jim Molitor, perhaps having sex with a chicken, I'll take that!

I agree with you here. The game is dead. It is an ex-game. It's not going to be released. I was pissed, so were lots of others, but that's what happens when you have a fuckwit frenchman who knows as much about computer games as he does moustache fashion in charge of a company. A lot of us saw it coming and expected it. It was also over a year ago. Life goes on. I'm over VB's cancellation, and I really don't mean to offend people when I say, I'm not interested in what 'could have been' any more (though I appreciate the work that went into getting these pictures out).Saint_Proverbius wrote:Well, it certainly never crossed my desk. Let's move on, focus on games we can change and the future of the Fallout franchise.
As for the chicken sex picture, I'll forward it.

If someone promises a revolutionary new car and in the end only comes up with some tire specs, I still have interest in them as revolutionary tires (not the best comparison, ok a better one)
If one of my more favoured historians promises a book on, say, European colonialist historical revisionism, but doesn't finish it and only ends up publishing an article, I still read it with relish.
The game is gone and never will be. We will never know if it would have been any good (though it sure sounds like it), but we do know Fallout 3 won't be even remotely like it. That in particular interests me, because this can still influence Fallout 3, which is why publicising it is important.
Apart from the personal aspect of interest in a game that kept my focus for a long time (and Saint Prov can go as pouty and "I never cared about this game" as he wishes, but I find it strange that he then makes this decision for all RPGCodex readers, including me), I've also found a lot of the ideas of the game I've seen, public or not, are high-quality and could definitely act as a source of inspiration together with Fallout 1 and 2 (and Tactics).
Pictures are even better, they show how to capture the mood

Yes, sorry about the swipe en passant.Saint_Proverbius wrote:And you're a douche.
But you might want to reconsider your stance for your readers' sake. I don't know the readerbase of RPGCodex at all, let alone as well as you, but they might at least vaguely appreciate such an image. Not to mention the free PR.

Bethsoft will make the game they're going to make. Whether we put these images out or not will have extremely minimal influence, if any.Kharn wrote:Really? Why not?

And if, say, the tech demo was released, yes that's certainly reasonably big news. It's something substantial, something along the lines of your 'article from a book' analogy.
But these are concept arts of a dead game. All it shows is something that could be from any of the Fallout games. Drooling over this is completely and utterly pointless, and I can't get excited over it. In fact it has little impact on me at all. We can spend hours endlessly speculating on Van Buren, but what's the point? It's something I really cannot be bothered to do. It's dead.

What PR? The game's dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. I'm not interested in the dead. I'm barely interested in the living at this point. I get screenshots for games that are currently in development that I decline to post, and those matter quite a bit more than something that's never going to come out.
I'm not depriving the people at RPGCodex of anything, despite the way you're twisting things. I said that if Teatime wanted it, give it to him. DAC is a Fallout site, after all, so it would apply more to this site than it would RPGCodex. RPGCodex is basically an opinion site, and whether or not Van Buren is pushing up the daisies isn't a matter of opinion. It's not pinin', it's passed on.
This stuff might have been relevent to RPGCodex 18 months ago, but stick a fork in it already. If the exBIS people want to show off something, let's see what they're currently doing. That's of more interest to me, and the people on the RPGCodex forums that are looking for the next big thing, than a pictoral epithet featuring a never will be.

Yes, the realist in us all says that, but that kind of negates the purpose of the old remainder of the Fallout fansitesMr. Teatime wrote:Bethsoft will make the game they're going to make. Whether we put these images out or not will have extremely minimal influence, if any.
Hmmm, yes, fair play.Mr. Teatime wrote:And if, say, the tech demo was released, yes that's certainly reasonably big news. It's something substantial, something along the lines of your 'article from a book' analogy.
The point, one would argue, is being a fan of a series and thus showing interest in what the artists create concerning the series. That's not really that odd, is it?Mr. Teatime wrote:But these are concept arts of a dead game. All it shows is something that could be from any of the Fallout games. First, you all are swell guy.
Why were the screens given to only certain sites? We will just steal them and post them here. Also the screen fucking sucked bawls, it shows nothing its just the same type of concept art we saw a long time ago.
What we should be more into as a community is stealing the tech demo of FO3 and putting it on our own BT thing and get new pictures of Moliter and Caen so we have more photoshop material.
