Auto Assault at IGN

<strong>[Game -> Interview]</strong> - More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... title=Ryan Seabury">Person: Ryan Seabury</a> | More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... l">Company: NetDevil</a> | More info on <a href="http://wikipocalypse.duckandcover.cx/in ... title=Auto Assault">Game: Auto Assault</a>

<a href="http://pc.ign.com/articles/590/590566p1 ... int=1">IGN have put up an interview</a> with <strong>Ryan Seabury</strong>, the Design Director for <a href="http://www.autoassault.com">Auto Assault</a>.

<blockquote><em><strong>IGNPC: Lots of games are set in the carefree days of the
post-apocalypse. What makes this such an attractive setting for your
game? How did the apocalypse come about anyway? What kind of character
does it impart to the game world? </strong></em>
<p>
<em><strong>Ryan Seabury:</strong> I think lots of traditional single player games
use a post-apocalyptic setting, but for some reason MMOGs haven't
really tapped it yet. So in that respect, we hope </em><em>Auto Assault
provides a world backdrop that will be a refreshing change from goblin
and elf country, which has dominated MMOG settings since they became a
viable medium.
</em></p>
<p><em>
The apocalypse in </em><em>Auto Assault occurred due to an
external catalyst of alien craft crash landing on the planet. The
two-sentence summary is that these alien crashes caused rampant chaos
and civil disorder due to spreading contamination and mutation. We then
brought the apocalypse upon ourselves by using what I like to call
"nuclear scrubbing bubbles" to clean up the mess. It didn't work, and
that sets the stage for the game at launch. It's a gritty, cyber-punk,
post-apocalypse universe that can look at itself with a sarcastic
grimace at times.</em>

</p>
</blockquote>
I'm betting those aliens will come back for an expansion pack after the game's release.

<p>There are some <a href="http://media.pc.ign.com/media/674/67477 ... .html">new screenshots</a> as well, and here're two of them:

It looks crap. I'm fairly biased against MMOGs though.
Don't hate him because he's beautiful.

Yeah..me too I suppose. I've never seen what's so great about MMOG's. It's all hype.

Try World of Warcraft. It's surprisingly good.
