Hi ,
My names Jack, I just got registered finally I had'nt been able to in
the past for some reason. The reason I'm writing this is that when I
go to redviewer for making a new tile I punch in the dimensions for the tile and click on Edit>offset/Picture and there's no pic of my tile. I have the bounding box there, but that's it. Can someone help me!!
Also is there a higher version of the Zlib library then 1.1.4.0 for the redviewer?
I've followed JJ86's tile tutorial on making new tiles to the T but something is not coming out correctly. I have a bunch of pics to convert to new tiles that I would like to share as soon as I can fiqure this viewer out.
Thank's for your help and info in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you using the zar clipboard? If you haven't done so turn your image into a zar using FT Tools and then add it to the zar clipboard. Then, depending on which version you have either choose the option to make a new tile or in the latest version open an existing tile, and then export your image from the clipboard. Adjust the bounding box and then use the wasd keys to position the image inside the bounding box.
If you are doing the above then check your image, have you left loads of space around it? If so it'll affect the offset, I always crop my pngs as close as possible. Try zooming out so that you can see your image, or go back and crop the png and create a new zar.

Thank's requiem,
I open FT Tools and click convert from png to zar, then close it.
After which I open Redviewer and click on open zar and then push
the clip button and add it there as it say's to do also highlighting in blue.
Then I select New>Tile and then bring back clipboard and export it when blue highlighted. This now is where things are going astray for me,
I go to the Bounding Box and click it then put in some basic fiqures to start out with and I get the box to show alright and it moves around using asdw keys but there is no tile pic showing even when I go to Edit>Offset - Picture.
Also where would be a good spot that would be easy to find for saving the pics in the editor?
Hopefully I gave you alittle more info to help me with this problem.
Thank's Again jc577

Which version are you using for a start? The latest was 16.0.23 and in that version you can't create a new tile from scratch but have to open an existing tile and then export the new image from the clipboard.
Otherwise all I can suggest is set up the bounding box, import your image and then adjust the bounding box to fit and make sure you download the latest version from NMA or JJ's tutorial pages.

Hi Again,
Thank's for info requiem, One more question these free trial versions of Photoshop that are out, do they allow you to save and use saved pic or image in another program(like redviewer)?
If not that could be my whole problem
Thank's Again
P.S. Does anyone know where I can get a free full version of Photoshop
5.0?

I have no idea, but I don't see why not. I use Corel 8 which came with my machine. It won't do for sprites but is quite good for pngs for tiles.

Just get a copy of Photoshop Elements, they give it away with all sorts of hardware, you're bound to find one somewhere for free.

Thank's guys for info, Also I found a place where you can get full version of Photoshop 7.0 for 49.00
dollars. CS 8.0 for 99.00.
One other thing, how do I keep the bounding box there with a existing tile and keep it there to be used with my newly imported tile, reason I'm asking is as soon as I start adjusting the box it
closes on me and I have to reopen the new tile?
I know Trial and Error! Thank's Again!

Hmm now you've got me confused, if you open a tile it should stay open unless you close the viewer or open another file. What version are you using?
Though saying that, on older version the bounding box option was under the rendering settings. Under configuration make sure you check remember rendering settings.

I'm using 1.6.0.17 but I also have the .23 version.
Also when you export from clipboard where does the export go to? Such as what proggram or file?

Exports from the clipboard go into the main window of the viewer, it's how you add the new image to your tile.

Thank's Requiem for info, I'm trying to put together
a typical existing tile and trying to get everything toegether where I begin to have the problems.
At which time I'll send it to you. Also is it posible
that I'm screwing something up in the process with photoshop and figuring it's ready to export in png.
when in actuality there's something missing in the process?
Thank's for the prompt replies!!!!

I wouldn't know, I don't have photoshop and don't know what is required to make a png for a tile. I'll be honest I've never read any of the tile making tutorials except JJ's poster making one which I skimmed to find out the correct angle for the perspective, but from what I remember from that using photoshop seems very complicated.
In Corel photopaint all you need to do is open your image, use the mask tools to create a mask around the image. Fill the background (masked area) in with solid black and invert the mask. Crop the image to the mask, resize as necessary and save as png.

Hey requiem,
I just installed full version of Photoshop 7.0. I now
can't get fiqured out getting a pic saved in png.
Also when I go to ft tools and click png to zar and the directory pops up I don't see the pic even though I've placed in a obvious folder. Come hell
or high water with your help and info I'll fiqure it out
and when I do I should know every facet of this tools and how to use them!!!! I'm wondering to if it
would be wise to reinstall FOT's and redviwer and start over with everything?
Thank's more than you know!!!

I use Corel photo-paint 8 part of the Corel Draw 8 package.
I'd leave your FT Tools alone for a while, use .23 of Redviewer and double check where you've saved the png.
