The site was slashdotted recently. If in doubt, try again at another time. It does work. :drunk:

I have a mate who swears by this game. I myself could never get past the graphics and controls.

The original is a great source of nostalgia for me. 'Twas possibly one of the best space games of the time. Updated technology is a pleasant boon, in my opinion. A pity the servers are so congested. :drunk:

I've played the one with Mark Hamill in it.

Privateer is a spin-off of sorts, Privateer 1 rocks faces but 2 is stupid.

Exactly so, Pat. Privateer 2 was bollocks. :drunk:

What about X2? Your thoughts on that one if you please...

I have not yet had the opportunity to play X2. I have not yet heard much, good or ill of X2. I have not yet gone out of my way to educate myself regarding X2. However, you did ask for my thoughts on it, so -

Ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka
ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka
ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka
ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka
ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka KAH !

Make of that what you will. I shall update them when possible, possibly. What are your thoughts on X2, Privateer, applesauce or any other relevant topic, Frowning ? :drunk:

Well... the cut scenes were so bad I had to skip past them and then try and guess the mission. As a useful gauge for my intolerance towards the poor cutscenes in X2 it was fine, but as a rewarding game experience then it's not so hot. I did have to sell it though so maybe it hasn't had a fair chance.

Thought's on Privateer? I only know it's a name for a private entry into a motor car race, as relevant as my applesauce thoughts unfortunately.

X2 is terrible. Avoid.

Hmm, though pending at least cursory further investigation, I do doubt that I will be playing X2 any time soon. Perusal indicates it to be ultimately unworthy of time. Oh well. Consider it an exercise in willpower, perhaps ?

Regarding Privateer, if you enjoy relatively non-linear, quality space games, I think it is worth considering. If older games and comparatively basic graphics are no hurdle to you, you might even enjoy the original. 'Twas a surprisingly well executed combination of combat, exploration, economy, piracy et al, all with a reasonable plot. Thoroughly huzzah, in my opinion.

I am saddened that you have not shared your thoughts on applesauce, Frowning. :drunk:

I'm vegan, I stear clear of dishes where applesauce is a condiment. From memory I remember applesauce to be a welcome disraction from poor food.
