Melee weapons or unarmed?

Like Tactics? Found a cool mod for another game that reminds you of Fallout? Playing those crappy spin-off console games called "Fallout"? Discuss here.

Melee weapons or unarmed?

Post by teh_33 »

Hi all

If you had to choose between melee weapons and unarmed, which would be better in the long run?

Does unarmed make up for its lack of variety in weapons with pure damage, or is melee simply better.

Thanks for any advice

Melee has a slight advantage over unarmed due to range but most of the melee weapons are useless junk. So in the end they're about equal.

Does unarmed offer more knockdowns and unconcious states though? Since i think keeping the enemy down while you pummel him is pretty important as well

:? Hmm here's an idea, why not try playing an unarmed character and find out?

With either unarmed or melee attacks you're always going to be at a disadvantage in FOT since most of your opponents will have firearms, if you want to experiment with a melee/unarmed character try downloading the mini-campaign I made called Melee Meltdown, you can download it from NMA.

Do Fist weapons count as unarmed? Brass knuckes, power fist, etc?

If you have a super mutant character the unarmed combat is brutal. There are some good melee weapons though. Not sure how it will last through the game on the later levels though. I'll not spoil it.
Don't hate him because he's beautiful.

But if you are a Deathclaw, unarmed is better, and there is a perk to upgrade the defense (like an armor)!
