General Gaming is uber-gay recently, so
here's something really good for ya. I'm fapping.

I was gonna post about this yesterday but the forums keep playing games with me. Supreme Commander looks fucking awesome. It sounds awesome. I can't wait.
The name kinda sucks, though. Derek Smart might have a fit.

Finally. After all those years waiting, we are now going to have the 'spiritual' sequel made.

Even if it only comes close to the joy of
TA, I will be quite happy. If it surpasses
TA, I will probably be happier, though not EUPHORIC, mind . . .
Something of an incentive to upgrade, I think.

I never played TA until today, I downloaded the demo.
It was pretty fun, but what makes it incredible?

Gameplay, music, graphics, witty new RTS elements... Need to say more?
Anyway, it's just like anything else, matter of taste.

TA was released in 1997, if I recall correctly. In light of the many superbly executed features present, features that were not even experimented with in the vast majority of other titles at the time, 'tis enough said. Even better,
TA holds up well today as demonstrated by the strong community of players and modders.
If you are thinking anything resembling '
what features, O learned Blargh ?', I humbly suggest you conduct some research and cease being a lazy, irritating cunt. Okay ? Okay.
Perhaps my opinion is augmented somewhat by nostalgia. I care not.

The best thing in Total Annihilation is total annihilation. Play campaign on Hard, or even more so, with someone who knows what's going on, and you'll see.

The best news I've heard today. The king of RTS(along with Close Combat) makes a comeback. TA isn't just a game, it's a state of mind.

My question was not meant to insinuate that it is not indeed incredible, I was simply wondering what makes it so.
I enjoyed the demo, and I am interested in playing the full game. My question was one posed out of curiosity, dear Blargh.

Good thing about ta:
All the goddamn strategies you'd ever want.
Want an air-force that can beat the crap out of a tank force? You got it. Vice-versa? You got it.
Defensive? Sure. Nuke-tactics? Sure. Anti-nuke, also possible.
Scatter basing, giant cannons, and the buzzsaw/vulcan... yes... the sperminators... makes me all giddy thinking about those
Whatever tactic you could think up was possible to beat with another one... that was the charm.
And there were ships/submarines also, but we avoided those maps... air/land attack pls.
Looking forwards to the game, haven't read it, just looked at the pictures.

I realise that. Just as my response was not intended to insinuate that you were insinuating that
TA is not indeed incredible. Hurray.
SuperH wrote:I was simply wondering what makes it so.
Play it at a LAN against intelligent opposition and see. 'Tis the one true way to
TA enlightenment.
SuperH wrote:My question was one posed out of curiosity,
Personally, I am rather fond of questions posed out of carrot(s), but I digress.

I'm not even sure if it will work on XP. (I have ME so I have no problems.) You can get it for the Mac.

The demo works in xp.
It tells you the version of directx is wrong and there is an occassional screen flicker but it's otherwise apparently fine.

I never really liked Total Annihilation. It seemed like your typical RTS to me. It was "OMG in 3d". However that was about all I could see that was any different.
I'm not much of an RTS person though.
Myth was about the only one I truly liked a lot.

You do know that there is no such thing as free speech, and opinions... right?
*calls for angry mob*
