If you could turn back time...

Think of your past gaming decisions and say what you would change if you could turn back time.
-I would of gotten Total Annhilation instead of starcraft because it probably would of been cooler back in the day. I got starcraft instead of TA despite the CompUSA clerk recommending TA, oh how ignorant I was.
- I would of gotten a playstation to go along with my n64 or get dreamcast.
- Probably would of gotten a ps2 and xbox instead of a ps2 and gamecube. Or I probably should of just have the ps2 and nothing else. RE4 and zelda are banging awesome though there like the only games I like on the system
Maybe I wouldn't turn back time because if I didn't just have a n64 I would of probably never gotten too much into PC gaming.

I would have not "sold" my Sega Saturn to a co-worker that ended up getting fired the night I sold it to him (only getting the first $30 downpayment) because he chased a customer out of the store with a crow-bar.

- I'd have bought Fallout when it came out. I found out what it was years after it came out...
- I wouldn't have spent time that much on Pokemon(Eh, I was a kid)!
- Wouldn't have sold my NES for a GameGear as kid.
- I wouldn't have broken my own GameGear and my brother's.
- Would have started my Legend of Zelda collection sooner.
Hmmm... being chased with a crowbar... as a customer... what did he do?

I would've bought Divine Divinity instead of Dungeon Siege.
And I probably would've packed my Daggerfall cd a bit more careful so it didn't break.

-I would not have bought Aliens vs Predator 2 because my comp sucks..
-I wouldn't buy Halo 2
-I wouldn't buy the Vader cd without downloading something of theirs first.. oh what a bad decision that was
-I would hit the Clear History button

I would've not acted like a drama queen and refrained from throwing my extensive floppy disk collection of ZX Spectrum games (around 30-40 of them, IIRC) in the trash chute.
Also, I would've brought all of my game CD's with me to U.S. instead of just 1/3 of what I had.

I would've saved a lot of money by exclusively pirating games rather than buying them, which could be put towards my expensive heroin addiction, or my university education, or something.

Turning back time in terms of game purchases.
I would have stopped at thief 2 and been content with the custom
content. T3 looked nice, but no.
The second thing I am not so sure about:I just got the original Half-Life
yesterday. I've never played any HL or C-Strike before. So did I deprive
myself, or have I accidentally given myself a supply of good new-for-me
things to last me through the present gaming drought?
To continue: I would have stopped at Tomb Raider One. The others just
don't add anything.
I would have skipped Morrowind, even though I played it 2+ years after release, with all of the add-ons, for less than US$20.
I would not have bought Freelancer. I would not have bought Bad Mojo
Redux(never played the original). It just didn't seem worthy of cult
status.
I would not have bought the MYST Collection. I did the whole thing with
walkthroughs. It is nothing but a fancy backdrop for puzzles.
But at US$15 it seemed a bargain for 3 "games".
I would not have bought Schizm or Nautilus, for similar reasons.
Syberia 1&2 - well, I guess I can be happy with those, they were
quirky and atmospheric enough to just barely justify themselves.
I would have skipped Iron Storm. Nice concept, but... just not enough.
Too linear, seen it before... Jaded Gamer Syndrome has set in.
I don't like the Star Wars universe, so I skipped all that KOTOR crap.
What is left? I'm looking at a bargain copy of Tropico. How about Far Cry?
Forget any NWN crap, no EQ or Guild Wars for me. No Ash.Call.
I won't even go there.
Is there anything good at all? Am I missing something?

I would have saved time by focusing on something of long term appeal and worth.

I would refuse to click threads referencing Cher lyrics.
In regards to actual gaming decisions -
I would have bought a PC sooner
I would have bought Jagged Alliance much sooner
I would have never touched Xenosaga, ever.....Ever....seriousily, don't even try and find it, it's terrible.

I would have focused more on building instead of destroying in Sim City.
I would have checked that my computer had DDR memory instead of SDRAM.
I wouldn't have bought that silly racing wheel.
I wouldn't have uninstalled the unpatched version of Half-Life(thus deleting most of my C: drive).
I would have been more gentle with my C64 joysticks.
I wouldn't have left Morte in the Pillar of Skulls.
I would have pursued other activities than gaming.

(Why didn't anyone think about this?)
- I'd have made sure in any way possible, that F:BOS would've been a decent game, or not a game at all.
- Would've made sure Black Isle Studios stayed open in any way possible.

Let that be a lesson to him for ruining a perfectly good crowbar.

I would:
- not have jammed a screwdriver into my zx spectrums gameport with the power on
- not lost my original falcon 1.0 (pc) floppy + manual (nostalgic crap)
- bought a computer instead of a 4 year drugcrazed-
drinking-partymarathon

I would of probably been more risky and not care about whats the best buy or limit the amount of games I get.
Thread Epilogue
With the thought of going back in time with the consquences of changing the future dramatically would you still think its worth it? Are you content to leave the past in the past and look to the future? This is pooperscooper, see you next time.

It's no use going back, we all learn from our past errors, they allow us to make better choices. I still want my GameGear to work, but I can anyway get emulators of the games I have since it's gonna be legal.
The only thing I want is more time to play all those new games I discover!
Good thread, POOPERSCOOPER!
