Chinese government tries to prevent WoW addiction

China blocks online gamers from playing for more than 3 consecutive hours

Fucking fascists. I remember in the early development of WoW, this idea was being tossed around for the U.S. servers... but Blizz quickly abandoned the idea due to vicious backlash from the fans. Unfortunately for the Chinese, their government doesn't give a shit what they think.

You can play more, just take a 5 hour break, and then you go again.

Well, I do think they should limit the gametime at least in internet cafes, but 3 hours sounds a bit too little. People who play over 12 hours a day should be tied to a lamp post.

That's the problem with MMOs. You have to spend half of your life playing. What the shit? 3 hours of computer gaming a day?

As opposed to six consecutive hours of spamming DAC? In all fairness, you get paid to do that, of course.

I once played Diablo II for 13 hours straight. :blackeye:

That'll hurt the gaming sweatshops!

For those who don't know what it is, it's a place where they pay workers sucky pays to exploit MMOs for gold and items that are reselled on the internet. It works. A worker can get his employer 60k$ in a month but get only 100$ of pay...

I wonder what they will do? Switch to other games after the 3 hours? Do the 3 hoours count for all the games? Will they find a bug and exploit it? :?

Anyone who plays over 3 hours of any computer game has a problem.

And yeah, I get paid, atoga D: Plus it's not 6 consecutive hours, but more like 3 times 20 minutes.

19 hours straight personal record. I don't have any problems. And I could stop if I wanted to.

Approximately 24 minutes at the most. I find computer games become weary quickly and without (thus far) exception. Like a worn, comfortable, overlooked and returned to shoe of yesteryear. :drunk:

Did play more than 12 hours a few times. One of them was Fallout 2, I think (teh irony). Felt like I drank too much coffee, too weary. Nowadays I spend like over 12 hours behind a monitor every day since it's my job and all, so I'm mostly meh :drunk:

(help me)

Start giving small hints of breakdown aproaching at work. Like in the elevator stand in the corner facing it and mimic the sounds of the elevator blings. Stare at people too long and simulate explosion sounds every time someone pushes a button. Also remember smile bit too much at everyone. Get 'caught' scrolling gun and serialkiller sites. Hang in there dude! It's not long to till the bombs fall!

Use DAC as a group therapy?

I can't play more than a couple hours a day. I don't get exhausted, but I usually screw things up and become extremely frustrated and quit playing or my computer freezes. I usually have several different games in progress. It takes 2 weeks to finish a game that everyone else finishes in couple of days. Fallouts and Deus Ex took 2 months to finish, Ultima 7 a year.
