Too much equipment, not enough cash

Too much equipment, not enough cash

Post by ProggleRock »

Hey, I'm playing Fallout 2 right now and unlike Fallout 1, I'm having problems finding good merchants to sell my stuff to. I have dozens of expensive equipment which my NPC is carrying because I don't have any room for it all, and I can't find a merchant who has a lot of cash and/or cash that refills itself. I can remember in Fallout 1 I would have no problem selling everything to that weapon merchant in the Hub (I forget his name). So far the largest cash amount I have seen in someone's stock is not even $1000, and single items worth 5x that. As a reference I'm about half-way through the game and I'm now working on Redding. So where do you guys sell your crap for cash? Thanks a lot.

The gun merchant in Reno has alot of cash on him generally. If not, why not trade it for lighter stuff that has equal value?

San Fran D:

*edit* Seriously, I usually just sell loot for things I want, regardless of maximizing return. Shiny things especially. Mmmm, shiny.

Money isn't actually the best thingy out there... You could always trade stuff for meds and normal stim packs - you'll be needing them anyway and they actually have pretty good value.

Ammunition is always good to trade for. It does not have a limit in your car trunk.

Sure does. Try to put ammo in a full trunk, no go.

What I sometimes do is trade my stuff for Power Armor in San Fran, then line up the power armors in neat little piles below the boxing ring. They stay there forever. I think my record is like 10 or so. The other thing to do is buy up all the drugs, because they usually have a high cost, and little or no weight. Good drugs to buy are: Rad Away, Super Stim, Psycho, etc. Though the Super Stim has a weight of 1.

Some day I'll make a mod to fix the economy...

Well all of your suggestions would work fine if I was just trading equipment for more equipment, but I need the cash in order to get all these implants and surgery I want to get. It'd be great if I could trade the stuff for implants and such, but I'm gonna need a huge stash of cash if I want to get these implants.

San Fran NCR runs then. If you want to keep a semblence of order these places are somewhat later in the game. Though I guess you could "stumble" on NCR trade convoy early without "cheating".

Between the two vendors in the first screen in Sanfran you can get some cash.

Enjoy.
I miss the good ol' USSA.

Just remember, each time you lose, double your bet. That way eventually you'll win it all back in one hand. Of course... if you lose 6 or 7 in a row, you're really fucked.

That's part of, all of the charm. Certainty on this path makes for tedium. The distinct possibility of becoming really fucked lends spice, and a sense of (limited ?) accomplishment when the amount won is favourably disproportionate to the points wasted on the relevant skill. Or so they say. :drunk:

Redding casino clerk has about $2500 bucks. You can make trips betw. SF and Redding to trade off your stuff.
Usually by the time I have to worry about excess equipment, I'm level 12 and have APA and Gauss rifles akimbo.
