Tips to stay awake

Talk about music, movies, TV, books, other types of entertainment and what your vices are. Also, if you're addicted to the high you get off Aspirin, this is the place to talk about it.

Tips to stay awake

Post by Geno »

On those nights where you have late work to do and need an extra boost to finish it, what do you do? Energy drinks? Drugs? I'm curious, I need to stay awake more and more and want the best thing.

I don't get tired late at night. I only get tired in the late afternoon. I'm usually raring to go at 11 or 12.

Basically, the solution is to be me.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

Just go to bed as late as possible, and stay in bed for as long as possible. Do this for a week, and you'll soon see the difference. I do most of my work between the hours of 23:00 and 06:00.

Turn the thermostat down to like 60 degrees. It will help keep you alert.

Just drink coffee like anyone else does.

EDIT: Why can't people just stick to Celcius degrees?! Damn conservators

I prefer Celsius myself, because it's intuitive and makes sense... but I'm still accustomed to thinking about the American way.

So what's the conversion? 60 ºF = 0 ºC?

Insomnia in conjunction with rigorous training allows me to 'operate' on 1-3 hours of sleep every 48 hours or so. After a few weeks of cutting my arms with a sharp knife whenever I started to fall asleep, I was able to maintain the benefits without frequent injury. Artistic scar tissue is awesome. :drunk:

Keep yourself busy and active to take your mind off of sleep. Wether it's working out, working, or playing a game or two.

Read the damn thread, he says he has work to do late at night... working out, posting on DAC, and masturbation will keep you awake, but won't lead to productivity... unless you are able to simultaneously type a term-paper with one hand and stroke yourself to orgasm with the other. In which case, I envy you.

Maybe you find the pythagorean theorem sexy? There is such a thing as taking a slight break and THEN he can masturbate, work out, etc. Or he can use his left hand to use one of those stress balls. Regardless, they're all applicable so STFU.

Additionally, he asked what we do to stay awake - he didn't ask for things that were applicable to him.

Ideally, self mutilation is something everyone should experience at least once. Personally, I think it would be especially applicable to Geno, in this (perhaps any) instance. Oho. :drunk:

This one actually made me laugh. I love your humor, Blargh.

I'm taking energy drinks, it works pretty well, but the next day, I'm a zombie and I sleep in classrooms where it's all white(it's actually worser if it's white...). I could try using my 2 hands to do all these things. Too bad I'm not good enough with my feet... :giggle:

One time Paul Erdos (pronounced air-dish) was talking to this amateur mathematician guy and he goes "How many proofs of the Pythagorean theorem do you know?" and the guy goes "two" and Erdos goes "I KNOW THIRTY THREE!" and then the guy's head exploded and the roof blew off the house.

Anyways, in my experience, writing papers for English, humanities, etc. classes is basically mental masturbation. Fortunately I have much training in the art of using a thousand words of bull to convey a hundred words of meaning.

Drink lots of coffee. Energy drinks are overrated, I find, plus they taste gross. They lack the general invigorating feel of coffee. Green tea works wonders, too. I stayed up all night drinking pot after pot of it once and felt wonderful in the morning.

Alternately, do speed or crystal meth or whatever if you've got it.

I stayed up all night doing an English project and reading/posting on DAC once, without caffeine or anything. I ended up staying up for a good consecutive 48 hours; by the end of it, I was pretty ravenous, blurting out all kinds of crazy things and generally feeling like I was out of my mind. I think I thought I could fly or something, too. I remember seriously considering jumping off of an apartment balcony. True story.

Edit: don't forget to
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
