is a thread I have zero interest in. However, looking at the three options brought to mind what has been bothering me lately off and on as I remember it.
Okay.
Playstation 3: $600. Expensive as fuck. Blu-Ray player + games.
Blu-Ray player: $1,000. Blu-Ray player.
off topic? OMG YOU'VE BEEN CENSORED... yet you're still posting. MYSTARY!!!!
You forgot to factor in the cost of PS3 games. They are somewhere between $60 and $100 at launch. Does anyone know the average price of Blu-Ray movies released so far?
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
Blu Ray is just the next DVD with a lot more storage so the movies can play at really high HD quality on your HDTV. HD DVD is pretty much the same thing too.
The difference being... HD DVD actually exists, and Blue Ray is just a prototype? Or what?

They both basically exist. There's already Blu Ray players on the market (and I think they might even be in North America). HD is taking a bit longer. They're just incompatible formats for bigger DVDs. The main difference is that Sony is backing Blu Ray, and Sony are morons (remember Betamax? And more recently, the UMD format for the PSP?), so in any case, it's probably best to just wait a while before you guy buying either kind.
As with all mass market standards, only one will prevail. From what I've read, Sony and its subsidiaries are pretty much the only ones backing Blu-Ray at the moment.
Sony and like a fleet of other companies are supporting Blue Ray. The only people behind HD DVD are microsoft and tobisha. Pretty much all the big movie houses are more behind blue ray. Though they will probably release their movies on both until one becomes a winner.
The prices on xbox1 hasn't really dropped because MS stopped production on them I think. My friends Xbox has been broken for awhile and has been waiting for the xbox prices to drop since the 360 came out but its still pretty high. I keep telling him just to fix it himself with the million tutorials online about how to replace the dvd drive.
I keep calling it GTA4 because I said GTA4 and you obviously understood exactly which game I was talking about. If I had said GTA7, there would be time wasted on pointless confusion because I'd be trying to be some kind of pedantic prickmeister.
