The Quivering - technical help needed

So I've got this backup copy of
The Quivering (bin format)
I mounted CD1, installed it for win95 (there's also a dos install)
Now if I try to run the game (with CD2 mounted)
I get blackscreen, then a message:
"Application Error

\gry\qui...
A
n privileged application was executed at address 00499c9a
Click on OK to terminate the application"
However if I click OK nothing happens. I can only terminate the application using windows task manager.
Now if I set the exe file's
properties to 'run in win95 compatible mode'
I get black screen with large white letters on it - this way I got to know I need to have CD2 mounted when I run the game.
But even with this,
I only get a white, too-large figure of the game's character on the black background, and then it all freezes. (same happens when I set properties to "run in 256 colours, 640x480")
This black and white enlarged state continues even after I press Alt+tab or Ctrl+Alt+Del; I can only restart the system.
There's no crack on either image.
Ideas? Suggestions? How to run this fucking game.
St. Toxic, perhaps you could come up with something; I remember you were rather resourceful when we were trying to deal with our System Shock problem..
(I suppose I could try to install the DOS version and run it in DosBox, but I'd rather go with the Windows one)

There might be a workaround, but some games just won't run on 2000/XP.
You could try VMWare and build a Windows9x partition on it, or something

thanks for the tip, Thor.
However, nobody knows any fancy windows-tweaking tricks I could use in this case? Anybody tried this game?
edit: ok I've managed to run the dos version of the game using dosbox, but it looks crappy so I'll still appreciate help on running the win version.

no, bin. What's the difference? Why are you even asking? Anyhow I already wrote it's in bins.
Torrentspy and bitenova were ditto ;/

He wants download link.
Long shot, but sort files by type and change ALL .exe's to 95 compatibility.

there you go, but there are very few sources - probably due to edonkey becoming inoperative. Even before that it took forever to download.
BTW, you get these links simply typing 'quivering' in the client application's search engine (global search).
Thanks Koki, I'll give it a go.

what do you mean by getting inoperative?
The reason is probably more that no one knows or wants to know about that game, that's all

Ah thanks for that. I only use torrents, but it seems like I should install emule now.

edonkey clients no longer work, mang. (however emule still works)

Koki's tip didn't work, but.. I've managed to beat the problem!
first, I edited C:\windows\system32\config.nt and changed the last line from "files = 40" to "files = 100"; then system restart
then, (CD2 image mounted) I right-clicked the dos-running quiv.exe in the game's folder and chose 'Run with VDMS' (I've had it installed already)
(then Ignored 3 attempts to locate the mounted CD image until it got the right one)
then in VDMS' config I changed files=40 to 100 again
and there you go, the game runs smoother then in DosBox and you don't need to go through the dosbox setup every time

(no need to 'mount' 2 discs like within dosbox, plus VDMS' config is saved for future use in a handy shortcut form)
(before that I set both qv32.exe and dxinit.exe to run in win95-compatible mode, but that's rather unrelated since this solution works in dos. I had also run 'setsound' at some point and chose soundblaster16, but VDMS configures the sound in its own way anyhow)
I've put this "walkthough" here for Perdurabo or others to maybe refer to if you get the game.

Thanks mang, will refer to it once I got the thing downloaded T_T
