Borat comes out on Friday at 800 theaters across the country. This is pretty much going to be the best, funniest movie of all time. This is the event of your lifetime. And without a hint of hyperbole, even.

Borat / Ali G only appeals to people who take pleasure in mocking the stupidity and willful ignorance of people. It's satire, a concept that many people struggle with.

If everything goes well with tickets etc. then I'll be seeing it tomorrow.
As Subhuman and Jesus Christ have already confessed to not having seen Ali G., I feel obliged to do it too.

To be honest, I think it's going to be overdone. There is a certain amount of time that you can go on for, until you run out of ideas, and I think that Ali G has reached that time.
By the way, I am a fan of his earlier stuff <3

I heard somewhere that Kazakhstan are refusing to show this movie.
I also heard that
Borat invited to 'real' Kazakhstan

ALMATY, Kazakhstan (Reuters) -- Alarmed by the antics of a fictional TV reporter who portrays their country as a nation of horse urine-drinking misogynists, Kazakh authorities have invited the British comedian who plays the character to come and see the truth for himself.
Rakhat Aliyev, Kazakh first deputy foreign minister and a powerful son-in-law of President Nursultan Nazarbayev, asked British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen to visit the vast, oil-rich steppe nation and meet normal human beings rather than the larger-than-life lunatics shown by Cohen's TV reporter Borat.
"His trip could yield a lot of discoveries -- that women not only travel inside buses but also drive their own cars, that we make wine from grapes, that Jews can freely attend synagogues and so on," Aliyev told local news agency Kazakhstan Today late on Wednesday.
The Central Asian state's Foreign Ministry threatened Cohen with legal action last year after he hosted an international music show as Borat, who arrived in an Air Kazakh propeller plane controlled by a one-eyed pilot clutching a vodka bottle.
His coarse jokes included portraying the world's ninth largest nation as a land where cow-punching is a sport and locals would first shoot a dog and then have a party.
In the forthcoming movie, "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan", Borat depicts Kazakhs as a nation of misogynists, racists and anti-semites whose favorite drink is fermented horse urine.
In Kazakhstan we have Kazakhstanians.

Haha, look at the woman to the right. A soot-faced gypsy plotting to murder Borat? But for what reasons? Discuss.

i agree with aneurysm's sentiment. borat gets old quickly. but the strength isn't really the premise, it's all in sacha baren cohen's acting. that said - from everything i hear about this movie, it sounds like it will be epic.
i missed the toronto film fest premiere in september, sadly
apparently he showed up in a horse-drawn chariot.

There was a fun interview on TV yesterday, where a Finnish female journalist interviewed Borat. Borat told her to come back later so they could negotiate her price, but right now he's busy, because there's a journalist coming soon to interview him, so the "whore" should go away for awhile. The interviewer played along and told him that Finland's better in football (soccer for dumb idiots) than Kazakhstan, since Finns won the european championship match against them a while ago. The chatter went on for some time, it was fun to watch

Same old jokes, like you said, but absolutely hilarious in spite. The best thing was the deep sigh that went through the audience when they noticed that the Bed & Breakfast hosts were wearing kippahs.

I can't stress enough how ashamed I am of my government. In fact, somteimes, when reading newsposts like the one above, it occurs to me for a second that it's another joke or a fake because it's really hard to believe that our officials can be soooo laughably stupid to actually pay attention to Sascha's parody jokes, let alone complain about them.
Do you imagine US government paying any attention to the comedies depicting america in a exaggeratingly funny way (like America: World Police)? Hence, our country shows its infantility, and a considerable lack of humor sense in its offiicals.
