Irreversible

Talk about music, movies, TV, books, other types of entertainment and what your vices are. Also, if you're addicted to the high you get off Aspirin, this is the place to talk about it.

Irreversible

Post by SuperH »

I just watched Irreversible, and last week I watched I Stand Alone, both by Gaspar Noe. I am pretty sure he's my new favorite director.

They are both intense, Irreversible much more so - it had definitely the most difficult to watch scenes in any movie I've seen so far.

It makes the curb stomp seem pretty tame as far as those things go.

Has anyone else seen it?

Shit. That shows I'm not entirely conditioned to tolerance of these things at least. One could have thought that DAC would have made me.

Pretty intense movie alright. One of the few I've purchased on DVD after pirating. :salute:

It may have been the pills that were speaking, even out of earshot as they may well have been, howl they did. Regardless, I found, much to my initial shock turned delight, Irreversible in possession of one of the rarest and perhaps most sought after of comedic qualities - consistency.

The pain it evoked so masterfully was thoroughly transcendent.

My face will never be the same.

Rabidly endorsed. :drunk:

No ?

They chatter, they scream, they chant and beg and groan and deride and cackle and sing (Country, of all things ?!) and hiss and whimper a - without respite, without identity, within and without language. An insidious, perfidious, contradictory chorus, ever flouting the lost virtue of silence. A tumultuous ocean of roaring static.

Momentarily stretching rhetoric, why O what would promote a rational being to willingly, potentially court such an intensification of hostility ? Extend cordial invitation to a relentless, harrowing irritant to the seat of one's self ? Knowingly, gleefully fell the Tree and all but ink the record from audiological to psychological ?

I'd enthusiastically rupture the drums if I thought, even for a moment, that such a ploy might place rest, even for a moment, upon the table. Probably will at some point, anyway. A gas, a lark.

Do you launch inquiry after the abundantly there ?

As a grimy, polar coin. :drunk:

Clearly pills are just the beginning for Blargh.

I've heard seriously mixed opinions about Irreversible. It's on my list, but I'm not particularly jonesing to see it.

Well, I heard Audition was pretty intense, but I was sorta "meh" on the whole thing. Honestly, the part with the moving bag freaked my shit out more than the torture scene.

Re: the rape in Irreversible, is it gratuitous? I've heard it goes on for 12 minutes or something. I would get the point after about 2.

Audition wasn't that good, true. More like a wicked type of romance story with glorious ending.

I don't think it's gratuitous. I imagine it is pretty realistic. It's not supposed to be nice and happy.

It's rape, it's murder. You know? It's supposed to make you examine the fact that right now you're generally desensitized to these violent extremes, it doesn't shy away from showing it.

It was good, just not the most disturbing thing ever committed to celluloid (like the reviews made it sound).

Clearly oh so slow to tread upon that path.

Lack of surprise, lack of questions.

Also, Audition was anticlimactic. :drunk:

Amusing, you've conquered new depths of tepidity. A milestone for, a beacon to those formed of pretense and daftness. Everywhere.

Well done, Hollow One. :drunk:

I think you mean vapidity. "Depths of tepidity" is an oxymoron. And your lazy sentence fragments belie your carefully crafted facade of intelligence, Equally Hollow One.

Ehue. :drunk:

Stop mucking up my thread, flower.

We're supposed to be talking about ultra-violence not comparing internet cajones.

I want to see apocalypto, I understand it is more intense than Passion.
