Some things should just be left unspoiled by people eager to remake these in the hopes of possibly either making them better or worse than the original. That goes for both good and bad originals.
God help us all indeed.

I concur, Birds is incredibly cheap and boring

Fuck you. The Birds is awesome. Just see the ending. All those birds, all real. You think someone could do anything like that today? No. They would use crappy 3D.
Good news: they cancelled the Revenge of the Nerds remake.
But they're shooting an Invasion of the Body Snatchers one...

I forget who was the main character in the original, was it the woman or the man? All the new remakes tend to have a woman as the lead even though they weren't in the original, like in The Hitcher. The premise of the movie is so simple but they still fucked it up with new LOL HOT GIRL LOL. In the birds the man and the woman probably played equal parts but if they did it today it would be all like GIRL POWAH!!
If noami watts is in the birds she will then become the remake queen and it would stay for the rest of her life.

I'm just amazed that hollywood is COMPLETELY out of even half baked ideas. Now everything is a remake or a based on or a spin off or a whatever that is tied to.

Creatively Bankrupt. It's one thing if you're going to remake something and make it better, but when you remake a movie that's not even old and don't improve it, what's the point. Why redo The Hitcher, it can be 15y.o.? Seems like they're taking old horror b-movies and just giving them a shiny polish (which defeats the whole appeal of a horror b-movie) Texas CSM, Hills Have Eyes, and on and on. Makes you wonder how much young talent is out there, not getting screen time, because some fucking studio exec is convinved that Death Race 2000 needs a remake.
