The Prestige
Very very good movie.
From the beginning up to about 15 min before the end its pure crap really.
But the end makes the whole movie good thus.. the Prestige.

Maybe I was soured on this because I saw the Illusionist right before, and it was much better. Prestige is real fucking predicatable, once they explain what the "prestige" means, you know how the movie is going to wind up, that it's a trick being played on you the viewer the entire time, *yawn*.
*SPOILER ALERT*
The whole "i had a secret twin brother the entire time muhuha" is fucking hackneyed.

Actually, the illusionist sucked more ass than I care to explain.
Its the fact that the movie was about the final act that made it so brilliant. Right up untill the end I thought this was a shit movie.
But seeing those tankers, the machine and the secret really made it good.

The Illusionist was so horrible I wanted to tear my eyes out and eat them to dull the pain in my soul of having to watch.
And that's mostly why I never saw The Prestige.

They're kind of the same movie, and they both follow this cheesy premise that *gasp* they're master magicians so everything you think you see, you don't really see because it's all been part of their grand trick, which will only be revealed at the end. And oh boy, aren't the bad guys gonna be sorry, they won't even see it coming.

The movie was good until the end. Then it just kept going and going. The problem was that I think the creators didn't think people could "connect the dots," so they had to be as explicit about what was going on as possible. They should have just let people to figure it out on their own. Stupid audience!
Death to quotes.
Bringing dead threads back to life, just saw this movie yesterday and I really liked it. Got to agree with MR Snake here, I thought this one was a whole lot better than the Illusionist. Don't know if I'm stupid or something, but I didn't really "see it coming", the ending twist came to me as a surprise. I had to check the DVD cover after seeing it that it wasn't a Shyamalan movie. Nolan's pretty awesome at what he does.
I only got around to it about 6 months ago or so, because most of the "magic" movie I've ever seen were just awful, but I really like Prestige. It was kind of strange seeing Hugh running around with no claws, like every once in a while I just expected him to say "bub" at the end of his sentence it was kind of surreal.
