Yah, nwn2 was bad.
really bad.
And som some obscure reason they had decided to bring all the worst elements from KOTOR into nwn2. Like storing all your followers in a bloody tavern....
.... it played the same too... hack and slash.
The trouble with games seems to be the fact that the developers lack talent. I suppose that the ones with creative talent goes to the movies industry or summit.

maybe true, but if only all of our creative minds could come together for a
true RPG? but that is blasphemy to the RPG gods. like Bethesda, or Obsidian, so forth and so on....

It was and is bad. I can only speak for the vanilla version, though, maybe some mods are decent.

nwn 2 is utter and complete shit. It pleases no one. Not the BG fans, the NWN fans or the KOTOR fans...
They even nerfed the collectors editions. I laugh at the poor sods who bought them, and didn't even get half of what was promised.

Comparing something against it's contemporaries is not a good way to judge something.

A more important comparison then...
Forgotten Realms and D&D in general.. or any decent cRPG.
it doesn't live up to anything. It's substandard in all aspects... graphics, ai, gameplay, music, sound... it's crap.
And especially AI; your team. I spent 90% of fights controlling all other characters than the one I made.

NWN pawns BG, I guess BG has much better campaign than the one that comes with NWN wich i never played. But that is all it has and it wasnt that good. After fallout it was kinda flat and booring. If you ignore NWN campaign like i did and use their campaign editor to create your own server and play with bounch of people or go to other servers and play it you really have more fun with NWN than with BG. And after all that was the whole point with NWN.

I was actually referring to this.

Personally I thought NWN was shit so never blinked twice when NWN2 came out. If someone loans it to me or I pick it up in a year or two for fifteen bucks maybe I'll give it a go.
But yeah. I'm really sick of LOL YOU GET NPC PARTY MEMBERS THAT YOU HAVE TO CONTROL YOURSELF BECAUSE THEY ARE RETARDED AND WE FORGOT THE "NON-PLAYER" PART OF NON-PLAYER CHARACTERS.

In SOME older games I liked controlable party members.
But I haven't played NWN 2 because I'm still trying to convince myself that lags and stupid AI aren't that bad for a great game like Gothic 3. What reminds me of... (see GENERAL GAMING)

tend to agree... NPC's are 'sposed to be NPC's not players you control. least they could do is make the NPC's have some better AI.

I prefer controllable npcs followers over "get shot in the back by stupid npcs" any day. I honestly never used a single follower more than a short while in Fallout games just cause they where anoying and stupid. Every time i would get follower i would get pissed off after 10 minutes and kill him or ditch him off in desert.
Sure in fallout 2 they fixed getting shot in the back problem a bit but than the horible anoyence of them getting killed after longass fight just made it as enoying as ever.
