Will a LCD/TFT 22" Widescreen affect graphics in games compared to a 19" Crt? Will it drain the computer because of its size?

I guess it depends on what resolution you're using. From what I know, screen size/type shouldn't affect performance.

Some games don't have widescreen, and depending on how your computer handles it it'll stretch to fit. The resolution is what will take a hit on your computer, yes, but if you've got a decent graphics card that's what will take the hit anyway.

just make sure that your computer can handle the native resolution if it is higher than most LCDs. Games that are way lower than the native generally don't look very good on LCDs.

Antimeasure, have you thought about dual 19" constelation?

It's practicly useless for games*, but a real help when you work with professional tools (music, cgi, photo editing, etc. etc. etc....)

*flight simulators and racing games often support that AFAIK, but since I'm not into such games, it's only what I've heard a few years ago, when I went into dual-monitoring.

Great, i just restarted - posting on dac seems to be one of those many things that makes my computer go blue.

Anyhow,

A big concern i have now, is like superH said, incapability with games because of screen resolution... And then theres movies from ie Tpb, Axxo rarely if ever releases movies in 16:9...

err..

Yes, it stretches the pixels horizontally in low-rez games so that everything looks a little "fatter". Not a big deal, I played Wasteland, F1 and F2 on my 24" inch monitor and it was fine. Modern games such as Half-Life 2 have widescreen options so you get a nice panoramic view of the game world.

You do need a decent videocard to support the higher resolution and if you set a 3D game to such a high rez it will obviously affect performance.

In any non-sprite based game, you can always force resolutions that will fit to your widescreen. Also, if you're playing an old game such as Fallout, you can either stretch the horizontal pixels, have the extra pixels either side black, acting as a frame and having the game running in its resolution inside, or run it in a window.

That all depends on your graphics card.
