HD TVs/Xbox 360

Post by Mr. Teatime »

So I'm probably gonna pick one up since there's hardly anything to play on the PC these days. I'll also need one of them fancy HD TVs to use it to its full capabilities. I know nothing about HDTVs - I've heard about HDMI for instance which i think is slightly different? but the Xbox supports this; is this the better option to get? - can anyone recommend a low price, decent HDTV to get (in the UK)? I know they've come down a lot in price recently.

Oh, and is the Xbox 360 region locked? In that case might be better getting a US one since they get the games earlier - does that make a difference to the TV I need to get?

Cheers

I would say almost definite on region locking, since that just makes sense, in the retarded way that region locking at all makes sense.

X-Box's are region specific, but if it helps any, I think you might be able to play any European games and not just UK games. Don't quote me on that, but I know Asian X-Boxes can play all Asian games (I.E. Chinese X-Boxes play Japanese Games fine) so I propose it applies to Europe, maybe?

Well, there's these "HD ready", and full HD tv's. Full HD is what you want, but they cost a lot. HD ready (they're the cheaper ones) isn't really HD, it's just a marketing term, and I think it would be stupid to buy one at this point, unless your old telly broke and you need something before full HD tv's get cheaper.

edit, here you go:

HDMI is the interface, liek, the cable between sexbox and tv. it's digital so yes it would be a lot better than an analog interface.

low price, decent hdtv? sounds unlikely - tell me if you find one though!

Theres a lot of bullshit that you have to research about HDTVs to decide which one is best for you. HDMI is the best but xbox360 doesn't have that output for it, but the new xbox "elite" has it. Either way you want to get one with HDMI because thats the future.
