A n00b question for you to flame....:S

Fuck, I wrote this shit out twice now and my browser keeps messing up... :x
Anyway, as a quicker version of what I was gonna say before; what is considered the best weapon in multiplayer FoT?
In addition, what armour do you guys tend to go for? I am a sneaker, by the way, so no power armour...
Just in case you get your little anti-n00b flags waving, I want to say that that sort of attitude is exactly why I am asking in here, i.e. to get away from arrogant people who are for some reason chuffed that they do nothing but hack PC game items and insult others for not being obsessed with a game... :x

Well, there is no universally 'best' weapon in multiplayer. Many think the Gauss minigun but it costs too many points. Others prefer smaller weapons. I liked the Pancor Jackhammer for a while. Armour wise I think Metal armour mk2 is a good choice. It seems to be very popular online. Also don't worry about being flamed, I'll delete that stuff out if it happens.

ok thanks
one other question i was gonna ask before, but i forgot, was that I tend to see a lot of "no pulse" on the fallout tactics game lists.
is that the pulse rifle it refering to? If so, what is so good about it so that it tends to be banned? Also, I was thinking more in terms of small weapons....
is the hand flamer good or bad, i have seen some ppl kill a lot of other ppl with one, so i was just wonderin'....

Personally I like to use Leather Armor Mk II, but I play - that is when I play - FoT MP I prefer 2K games. Crank the level of the characters up to around 12 and get the best equipment you can after that. (Which isn't much.)
I've had some really good games this way using a setup of 2 snipers (one Fast Shot, one not), 2 Big Gunners, 1 Grenadier (a SM), and a medic. Very lethal, very stealthy, very fun.

in the 10K solo games I tend to use a ghoul with fast shot and a guass pistol...stock up on voodoos and have a high luck, he kills alot of people.
Pulse weapons are OK, although their point requirement is high. I used one with my first character and it wasn't anything special. Problem with pulse weapons is that most people play as humans, meaning they get 10% to electricity resistance. Couppled with armour, pulse becomes really ineffective.
Pancor Jackhammer is what EVERYONE seems to use....don't know why....perhaps it's good? A strandard stock player I've seen is just a guy with Metal Armour Mk2, a pancor with EMP shells (don't know why...), and an assortment of drugs.
Guass is an okay weapon (I tend to use them...as I'm a sniper).
If you play 10k games it's possible to get your sneak so high that PA does little to ruin it (like my characters)

Cool. I'm glad someone profited from my little discovery. Er...even though this is a zero sum game which means that someone had to loose because of it.

Actually, the pulse weapons do Energy damage, and not Electical damage. This is because the ammo itself controls the type of damage done by an attack, and not the weapon (unless, of course, you're using a weapon which doesn't use ammo). Since pulse weapons use either SEC or MFC - which are set to Energy damage - they are severly handicapped compared to what they could have been like.
True Humans receive a 10% DR to Electrical damage, but since most types of armor offer no protection against Electrical damage it's roughly like shooting someone clad in a Leather Jacket.

The EMP shells actually do electrical damage, which is what makes them so damned nasty. The setup you describe is the only way you'll likely ever see the Electrical death animations, which are hilarious, but not quite as good as the ones in the FO RPGs.
Cheers,
OTB

This is why I don't enjoy playing FoT online. I have played this crap several weeks, but they still keep kicking me. People like [TOC]Superman, [IEF]ers and [Khans]ers. Quite annoying. And I swear to god that I will kick Superman from my server as soon as I get the chance.

I have come up against many people with the Metal armour mk2 and pancor EMP. Damn annoying, I found a way to beat them though, I was a DC and snuk behind him and cut him to pieces...
Whenever I go online playing FOT, if there are people I've played before, they won't use det packs ever, spoils my fun. But there are plenty of people who have no idea what I'm doing to their det packs

When I played I was either a deathclaw with a bunch of chems, or a guy with metal armour mk2 and that...green gun...thing...with the scope.
Problem is with the deathclaw, he kept freezing and no one could see me.

Do you know what my additude in those 10k drug games is?
If your gonna drug yourself up, I should be able to use an M2 with no drugs

In my experience, people tend to opt for the whole 'i can do loads of dmg in one hit' option. My preference is to bost you sneak skill higher than your smg skill, give yourself 10 or so PE and a H&K CAWS with emp shells, using a single shot and aiming for the head. The amount of kos you will cause is show-stopping, but, however, you will need a selection of perks (which ones i will not disclose) to maximise this idea.
When your opponent is knocked out, you can have fun. This is my favourite part of FOT multiplayer - exploiting KOed peeps!
My favourite is planting a remote mine in their inventory and, just as they begin to recover, blow them to bits. Haha! A more simple otion is to equip two psychos (not hard if you have spent your points wisely thus far) and drug them up to the brim, completely ODing them killing them if the amount of drugs used is sufficient. This tactic has won me many games, and for this reason H&K is my favourite weapon in FOT. Oh, and if you plan on blowing someone up for fun, make sure you read the manual and give yourselves some Traps skill

My favourite tactic is to be used when the enemy have detpaks near their troops. I find out the code (with ways I will not say) and blow them all up. People don't like me doing that and have stopped using detpaks for defence now.

ROFL there was this huge post on how to do that.

Yeah, thanks to that, people don't use detpaks when I join a game now

Well what do you use to join games? I use gamespy, and nobody uses detpacks on gamespy.

I use Barrysworld and PC Zone. Lots of detpak users there, at least there was until I got there

Yea, Barrysworld...I've been there about 3 times. To many cheaters. I played UT and i got wasted by some guy....I asked him how he did it, and he told me where he got his Hexxing program from, and how to get past GSA, and stuff.
Damn hexxxxxers! Grrrrrr.
Methinks we should smite them all.

I don't see the point in cheating. Takes the fun out of it. That's why I always enable Punkbuster when playing online games.

people.. most of you really dont know anything about fot multiplayer... its said no flame about noobs and all that but guys... you re really new or just cant play good. learn people... the fact is that 'the best fot weapon' gauss minun is banned along with all other bg's (not counting that it doesnt even fit in the most popular 10k) and in 10k EVERY1 uses pancor... and also 1 more thing... there are no hexers in fot cause theres a hex detect program and if some1 is caught his reputation is wasted...
oh and 1 more advice to the guy who gets kicked too much
: just put some tag before your name like as you are a clanner...
