Van Buren not Turnbased??
Van Buren not Turnbased??
I saw this screen on nma, why does that feel like van buren was not going to be turn based at all. More like that tactics continous turnbased shit.

i am on the side, that van buren was definitely turnbased but i´m not sure if they would add realtime combat, too. it looks a lil bit Fallout Tactics, indeed. Its probably just a placeholder. The thing which is strange is "Fatigue" ... there never was fatigue in any Fallout. I also saw some dead punkhead in some screenshot.
Ahh smoke to that.

Tactics continous combat mode had action points to. They would basicly refil them self as time passes.
If you look at that pic there is no end combat end turn button. Damage floating above enemy you are hitting come twice above his head mean he is hit twice in a raw while critter that is yet not involved in the combat is saying " move aside civilian, you are in my way of fire."
And the biggest proof that its not turn based is info screen saying "Targeted Attack on entity" that basicly means you target an enemy and you keep attacking him. Its just like tactics continous turn based, wich sucked ass and wasnt turn based at all except it had action points.

Actually, one of the developers, Puuk I think, once said the Van Buren demo didn't have functional turn-based combat, only real-time.johnnygothisgun wrote:what about that doesnt seem turn based? there is an action points counter right on the heads up display
The final version would've had turn-based and real-time, the demo only had a kind of CTB mode.

Sounds like resonable explanation.Brother None wrote:Actually, one of the developers, Puuk I think, once said the Van Buren demo didn't have functional turn-based combat, only real-time.johnnygothisgun wrote:what about that doesnt seem turn based? there is an action points counter right on the heads up display

It isn't even CTB, just a click thing Diablo style, they hadn't started neither the TB or the RT-Pause combat systems. TB was going to be the priority, work was about to start on it in January 2004, but development ended in December 2003.Brother None wrote:Actually, one of the developers, Puuk I think, once said the Van Buren demo didn't have functional turn-based combat, only real-time.johnnygothisgun wrote:what about that doesnt seem turn based? there is an action points counter right on the heads up display
