Your FO2 char
What style of character do you prefer in fallout? It will be interesting to see who uses who and why. Personally I like combat, but its always interesting playing through aspects of the game with different types of char.

The first time I played, I had a diplomat character. I guess it just suited me so well becuase I love dialogue and solving things peacefully. In RPGs, I mean.
But now when I have played with different type of characters, it's hard choose the one I liked best of them all. Being evil is different as playing good, It's not easy to compare. All characters have their good sides and bad sides so I'll just vote They all suit me equally.

While I think some gun using is neccesary (raiders must not survive ), My char is usually a diplomat. I think it's alot more interesting and challanging solving problems using your brain in the game, than just whoop a Bozar and start killing everything in sight. Plus, you usuualy get better rewards for solving quests peacefully.

Guns, knives, hammers, rocket launchers....
Combat is my game, but I don't go around with any brain dead Contra guy...I solve as many problems as possible for max exp. but nothing better than to throw a knive between the raiders eyes or smash the balls of a slaver with a Ssledge..

I don't think so. Sure you can get a small exp bonus but you get exp if you kill them instead and finish the quest. And you get to loot the poor bastards you just killed and sell their stuff. Solving a quest peacefully is usually good for karma.Kleptomaniac wrote: Plus, you usuualy get better rewards for solving quests peacefully.

i can see all of you diplomats' point of view. perhaps the game is a little more interesting using diplomatic characters than not, since this game is an RPG. I found, however that having speech 20% and speech 150% didn't make all that much of a difference to the way I played. I'm not denying that. it does make a difference, but i found that crucial quests that effect the development of the story were still able to be resolved in a similar manner, being a combative player myself.

I think it's an important skill if you want alternative ways to solve quests. I always have it tagged. Most important skill is Small guns, IMO. Lockpick is good too. And Doctor so you an handle the VC medical computer.
You don't need to initially tag big guns or energy weapons because you have no use for them in the beginning. When you're level 12 pick the Tag! perk and choose either big guns or energy weapons, depends what weapons you want to use.

I was a jack of all trades first time round, but later on I upped my combat skills because of the tougher critters and mutants in the south.
But then again first time round, I killed badgers girlfriend and couldn't work out how to get the F.O.B without killing the commander.
I just liked to talk a bunch of shit to people, then used my sawn-off and .44 to finish them. Pity they were useless later on in the game.

Hmmm, I'd still say the Rifle.
My last char had fast shot trait, bonus rate of fire and action boy perks. That means one shot with gauss rifle costed 3 APs. So I could shoot three times/round and reload.
