Two New Fallout 3 Locations Revealed!
[ Game -> Preview ] - More info on Game: Fallout 3

Throughout the course of the previews today, I did a little digging, and we have learned of the existence of two previously unknown locations in Fallout 3, and clarified the purpose of one of the previously known locations.

First, let's start with Paradise Falls. We all know about this town from the concept art that Bethesda released. What we did not know until today, however, was that Paradise Falls is a slaver community. From the Gamespot preview:

When you reach the outside world, you'll find yourself in the blasted
wasteland in and around Washington D.C., a departure from the American
West seen in the first two games. This is an area teeming with wild
creatures and rival factions, such as the Brotherhood of Steel, which
defends the remnants the capital; the Slavers who occupy Paradise
Falls, a converted strip mall; and the super mutants, tough-as-nails
humanoids looking to take over

Maybe we'll find Sulik's family there.

And now for the two previously unknown towns. First up is the town of Springvale. At this point, we don't know anything about it, other than the fact that this is a screenshot of it:

We know a little more about the new location Ten Penny Tower. This location can become accessible as a result of your actions in Megaton. As we have learned in various previews, Megaton's community is formed around an unexploded nuclear device. If you go to Moriarty's Saloon in Megaton, you'll find a man by the name of Mr. Burke who, as we learned from the IGN preview,
"represents interests that would like to see Megaton wiped off the map
and are willing to pay you to sabotage the bomb." If you do blow up the bomb, thereby completely destroying Megaton and all of the quests you didn't do in the town yet, a new location becomes accessible. Gavin Carter talks about it in his interview with Gametrailers.com:

You play [the Megaton quest] through the "bad" way and blow up the
town, you erase everything in Megaton: all the quests that you might
have gotten in there are now gone. But it opens up a new area, Ten
Penny Tower, that you wouldn't have opened up if you didn't blow up the
town. And that place has new quests, it has new items that you wouldn't
have gotten.

Yeah, the bomb in the middle of town thing is a pretty goofy idea. How about a quest to remove the the giant fucking bomb from the middle of town. The whole thing seems pretty unimaginative and boring. That mission path is so unnecessarily badass, it reminds me of something a Disney villian would put you up to.
If I ever met a group of people dumb enough to live with a giant nuclear weapon, I would probably blow them all up for no reason, so I can't blame the mysteriously evil Mr. Burke.

IIRC people built around megaton because they took it as a sign of gods mercy, plus the place that didn't get nuked would probably have lower rads. Its kinda goofy but people worship pieces of toast and have religious experiences induced by doors in normal society, so never mind the crazy religious after a nuclear war. I love the sound of Paradise Falls though. There's something I love about messed up shopping malls. Just a bonus that the slavers live there.
This is indeed good news indeed - somewhat.
I like the fact that there is a slavertown and that there is a town called Springvale. I also like that yu can say no to arming the bomb, but that if you do say yes a new town will grow up in its place
I still don't get why anyone would want to just blow a nuclear bomb off, though --- one would think that all surrounding areas next to Megaton would die out...
Nuclear bombs, imo, should be treated with respect and be feared...
And maybe that's the reason why the inhabitants of Megaton town worship the nuclear bomb --- the bomb that spared them. Religius beliefs are 'funny' sometimes, if you look at them from a certain angle. I mean people have worshipped pieces of bread or small boys with stigmatas, so why not a bomb that spared them...

haha - very funny
You know what I mean
Reports have been - well - reported about little children, both boys and girls, being worshipped because of their stigmatas, i.e. bleeding hands.
It was more a comment to the fact the people tend to worship anything that seems to have been kind to them, for instance a bomb etc. that didn't go off in time of war...

I worship money, drugs and women.
Because they're all kind to me.
The other thing is, why FAITH? I prefer KNOWLEDGE. Way moar fun than just faith, coz you can actually talk about stuff without assuming, that god might have done it this way or another. Knowledge points the smelly bent finger of science at stuff, debunking it. No god. Just science.
Worshipping an unexploded bomb, KINDA, brings the stuff into a new perspective, which I haven't analised yet. It combines faith with science. You BELIEVE in SCIENCE.
Yes, truly post apocalyptic.

Preferbly out of the blast radius.
Kinda like the swell guy that got flooded by katrina in new orleans.

The thing that makes it even more dumb is that it's been done in a Fallout game before.
