FALLOUT GOLD

I think Black Isle or just some group of really dedicated gamers should get together and come up with a Fallout Gold. You know better graphics expand on some towns add some bonus quests and even add some things that got removed from Fallout during production.. I believe that information was mentioned in the Fallout Bible. Anything to tide us over for the next year or two until we get some information on Fallout 3.

Not a good idea. The ONLY thing they should focus on right now is Fallout 3. We've waited long enough already. When they will finally have the time & money - make fallout 3, nothing else. As for the dedicated gamers stuff - yeah right, like someone did anything this big in previous years.

Agreed.

Its not like theres much more to get out of Fo2 except the towns and quests they didnt finish.

Arcanum Fallout

Well with RED doing his program that can take stuff from both Fallout and Arcanum you could make something close or someone could make something entirely new. Anything to tide us over.

I'd rather have F3. But do what you've got to do though!

They're still milking the last money out of Fallouts with collection packs and such. I doubt a mod wouldn't be nearly as good sequel as what BIS would do, there simply isn't enough resources and people.

Modding the game that much would be like a death wish. You'd have every person in the Fallout community jumping down your throat because of "YUO DIDN'T FOLLOW PROPER TIMELINE SIR!?!?!?" bullshit.

Best to start a completely new plot line from sratch, and have something fresh to follow. And make the environment somewhere in the Eastern seaboard.

Actually, I wouldn't mind having a "Fallout Gold" if it followed the original design intensions of Fallout. For example, the original design for Fallout had it so the player would continue to be able to play after he got dipped.

And really, a Fallout Gold being developed might give the nice people at BIS more insight in to what Fallout is than they have now, because it would force them to redo Fallout from scratch, basically. I can't see how that'd hurt Fallout 3 at all, because I'd be willing to wait the extra time to insure a better Fallout 3.

Saint i would agree with you, if interplay was in good situation and they had too much time and money. In real life however  we should be happy if we get any fallout rpg at all.

Well, I wouldn't mind a gold edition either. Maybe some improvements and fixes to the original game. A Fallout t-shirt(anyone know where to get/order one?), fallout posters, a mousepad, a cinematics cd and a few postcards featuring Tim Cain wearing a paper bag. I'd buy one of those.

Huh, that may have been in one of the FOB updates, but I have not read any of them since three. Bleh. I always did think that would be possible though, because if you kill some of the V13 citizens, and talk to others, you will occasionally get floating speech that says, in effect, "How could you sell us out? But I suppose you don't care anymore, do you?". Ah well.

I think it would actually insure a better FO3. Right now, you could come up with whatever cliches of what you think they would implement, they would probably be true. But going back to FO1's design doc, and going through the same experience the the devs of that game did, and making it a "Gold" version by implementing as much of the original intentions as possible, will make them know the FO universe better. Which is integral to making a good FO3. At the very least they could go over FO1's design doc, and actually play the game. But I think a FO Gold would greatly increase BIS's potential with FO3.

In real life, Fallout is their best known RPG franchise that they own. That means if they make a totally shitty Fallout 3, and kill it, all that's left is Meantime, the sequel to Wasteland that was never finished, TORN which was never finished, and Lionheart, which isn't out yet and may or may not flop.

Also, there is a rumor is that the Mac version of Fallout 2 has all new artwork. If that's true, the production time/cost for a Fallout Gold would be significantly reduced.

I'm sure the people who start working on Fallout3 have played or will play the previous Fallouts again. They probably have the insight already. Many times said, a lot of people from BIS are willing to make a new fallout so I'm sure they know what Fallout is about. And it's going to be a BIS project, if anything.

I wonder what would happen if Interplay were to announce it was disbanding Black Isle and giving the Fallout 3 project to Microforte. Bloody riots? Mass suicide? A commando raid on Interplay headquarters (the cardboard box behind the McDonalds on 4th street)?

New artwork in FO2 Mac? May I ask where you heard that?

good idea

Yeah doing a Fallout Gold and implementing new features could make it into sort of a test dummy for Fallout 3. They could a few minor features to see how well they work out that they might consider for Fallout 3. I'm not saying they completely redo everything and put in a new combat system which they may or may not do in Fallout 3 but you know little things. Also they can put in some extras that will help set up the Fallout 3 story. Not to mention assuming this would sell well, they could make some extra dough to help put out Fallout 3.

Maybe if they added a push feature, Ian would get shot a lot less :)

I'd shoot him anyway. It wouldn't be the same without Ian's brains all over every other wall.

Yeah Ian is a big pain in the ass, and so are all the other NPC's when they block doors. Unless it's Tycho or Dogmeat I just blast 'em out of the way.
