Nightwatch/Daywatch

So, I just saw both Nightwatch and Daywatch today. Or. Tonight. Saw the first (Nightwatch) on dvd with my boyfriend, since he bought during a drinking binge about a month ago. Nice and cuddly evening. Oh. Anyway. Then met up with his younger brother and went to a midnight show in the movie theatre to see Daywatch, the second movie. I just now got home, and am all hyped up.

Basically, they're Russian movies about the battle between good and evil and how there's a truce but evil wants to lure good into breaking it so they can rightfully start a war, and there are these 'others' who see the magic of the world, including vampires. They're both beautifully made, with loads and loads of little details to look out for and ponder and spins and twists on the myths and legends of the magic of the world.

So, has anyone seen them? What did you think? Have you heard about them? Do you want to see them? Discuss.

I remember seeing Nightwatch and thinking at the end of the movie that I would have had more fun licking my balls.

I saw Nightwatch.

It was ok.

I'd like if there was a third side that found a way to simulate the sensitivity of the "others". Maybe makin' a list and checkin' it twice.

Take out both sides.

Make it a trilogy, then end it.

Never heard of it but magic is for girls, and any movie with a good and bad side is pretty gay.

It's actually supposed to be a trilogy, I figure. Daywatch being the sequal, there's supposed to be a Duskwatch to end it all.

It's some sort of Vampire movie where they turn off Moscow for half a day and throw tennisballs at each other with their minds. I give it 2/5 Fallout: Tactics install-screens.

Yeah, the bitch of it is that Duskwatch is being made in America with the actors recast as Americans, and they're also claiming that there'll be a fourth movie called Final-Watch.

Way to run it into the ground guys.

The books the series is based off of are pretty good.

Speaking of such things, Nightwatch is actually quite watchable while on Robitussin. The disorientation goes well the Gloom idea and plot holes don't stand out so much. Worth a rental or late night cable viewing.
