Its very linear as far as I am concerned but the choices you make actually have consequences. Events lead to other events and some quests have zero guidance to which way you handle them or if you even handle them at all.
They all have consequences, except the massive amounts of sex you have with nearly every main character female in the game.

The massive quest options also cause huge game glitches as I have had to restart twice because of. I'm still looking for a way around it but it appears I have found quite a few problems like that.

I'd tell you to play it. It's entertaining as the atmosphere is definately different even though the vocab and porno playing cards take away from the games immersion.

Dialog is fucking horrible, its like it got hit with a chainsaw during conversion. I imagine the actual dialog for the game is good, but the english translation is usually disjointed and short lived.

Anyways, it ain't like most shitty fantasy RPGs, which makes it worth looking at for me.

Sometimes when you enter a new area through a door the game will fuck up and forget to play the cinematic. You then get stuck and can't do shit until you restart the game.... if you restart the game..

Never had a problem and didn't mind the dialogue..?

Then again i'm at a huge plot flaw in part 2 of the game...i haven't played in over a week due to the fact that its trying to force me to do something my character knows not to and moreover would not do...will pick it up again soon...

My computer choked on it. Judging from the first 15 frames or so, it looked very Gothic-ey.

hmm forgot that I bought it. I went to that seminar in croatia since, and never tried it again.

I guess I should fire it up one of these days.

Didn't really care for it. Too linear, grafix are too shini, and the story is meh. Gothic is far superior.

heard it was very good, if you can get past the glitches. Kind of like Hellgate London....

The only discussion I've even heard about it was that it was sexist and you bang chicks to get a card of them.

Kind of like real life? :?

Replace "card" with "STDs" and you're pretty close.

I liked it. I found the combat a tad dodgey, along with the dialog. But alchemy was well implemented, and actually made crafting in a game compelling for me. The range of cause and effects were also nicely done. They are simple ones where you see what happens 5 minutes later, but more over you'll be 2 acts in and find out something you did a couple of hours before hand altered the game world.

I quit playing it after I got to the swamp. It was kinda fun, but not interesting enough to keep me playing.

I think it's major failings were the overall shiesty quality of the controls, dialog and plotline. The combat system was interesting, but nothing sucks more than knowing exactly where and when your skills are going to top out the entire game.

It was pretty damn long though. I must admit that I enjoyed the part of it I played, other than the wincefest plot/writing.

Did the author of the books do the dialog, or was it a team of in-house writers? Does anybody know?

Problem is, with the new community patch(1.5), I can't play Gothic 3, the crack won't work D:

Guess I'll "buy" the witcher.

I'm talking about Gothic 1 (and 2). Gothic 3 sucks balls. It wasn't complete or will it ever be. Piranha Bytes' new game is supposed to recapture the original Gothics' atmosphere, but it's not going to be a Gothic game, considering PB no longer holds the Gothic license.

I liked G2. Being a pirate, hanging out on the beach, smoking (swamp) weed, drinking booze, and eating steaks every night... I wish life was like that.
After the pirate thing it went down and generic fantasy shit started again. Though really good generic fantasy shit.

Just started it.

It seems very juvenile.

The controls are fucked up, but I guess I'll get used to them.

Graphics are about average.

There is an alienness to the look and feel of the game.

Kinda good and kinda bad.

Shit that happens in real time needs to have totally responsive controls and excellent camera movement.

I hope combat won't be like in Gothic 2.

(I've only been in the beginning fight. Just button mashed it.)

I like many of the concepts here, but I don't know if the actual game is going to be very good.

I'll elaborate on that later.

Button mashed? There's something you didn't understand, then, because button mashing will lead you to death fairly quickly.
