(some stuff might be culture specific so lemme provide some clues:
a few years back you had to take obligatory Polish and math and some other stuff; they are widely considered a highly stressful situation and there's considerable social pressure to pass these. Exams were pretty tough so the less talented students stereotypically resorted to cheating, esp. at math. He'll sit in a large room (usually a gym) with many other students, examining board in front of him, and supervisors walking across the room. First he chooses from the topics for his essay on literature. At some point brunch sandwiches are distributed.
