Rambo

Post by POOPERSCOOPER »

It's was pretty good, lots of gore and action. Theres a lot of "HOLY SHIT" kills in the movie. My gripes with the movie is that it could have been a lot more, the characters could of had more interaction with one another and the movie was a bit on the short side(90 minutes). At the end when all shit hits the fan I wanted even more so I was a bit let down. Theres lots of scenes where stallone just stares instead of talking, probably talks less than any other of the rambo movies. The inclusion of mercenaries was a good touch but they could also have used some more background.

If your looking for fun entertainment, you should see the movie.

It does look fine.

I watched First Blood a few weeks ago, and I was stunned, as I hadn't seen it in maybe 10 years; I didn't remember it being so good.

Rambo Inflation

I have to see this again.

Only 1 death in Rambo?

And it's kind of accidental?

Interesting comments section on the other side of that link.

I especially like the math.

First Blood was damn good, it just went downhill from there though.

I remember when First Blood came out, everybody had to run out and buy "Rambo Knives" - the one with the compass in the pommel and all the survival shit inside.

IIRC this was the same time you had to have the Nike "Terminator" sneakers like Reese stole from the department store.

and if you could find a pair of Gargoyles sunglasses like Ahhnold wore in Terminator -

and had a Brian Bosworth mullet

and a black Trans Am with T-Tops

Then you had officially achieved Grand Douchebag status in 1985.

I like to sneak that skull into a scientific collection as a red herring.

Remember Iron Eagle?

I'll step up to the plate.

In the 80s porn was only made by professionals - Tracy Lords, Savannah, Teri Weigel, Tori Wells. World class hot chicks who had a passion for dick.
Today any slut can be in porn, it's sad really. No standards.

At DAC, this is a bit of a complement.

Isn't PA media something to look at in amazement and horror?

80's had some of the best cartoon series, hands down. Compared to the shit that comes on TV for kids nowadays, it's like every episode of Thundercats was written by Oscar Wilde.

As for Rambo. My first comment - shit's gonna be really confusing now cause whenever you say "I'm watching Rambo" you have to differentiate between the new one or the first one. Second, it seems like they really tried to restrict the action until the very last action scene. Made it feel really spaced out. To be fair, anytime someone got killed, it was incredibly gory.

You remember how in the old rambo films, whenever someone got shot, they'd just get a blood pack blown and then shake alot and fall to the ground? Not here. Holes get blown through people. There's afew points where one of the mercenaries uses a .50 Barret which takes peoples heads off in goretacular style. Explosions tears people to shreds. In regards to visual gore, Rambo is pretty much the movie to beat interms of mainstream media, in my opinion.

To shamelessly take a comparison from a review I saw, anyone remember Hotshots part deux/2? There's a section where Charlie Sheen is going around Rambo-esque, shooting anything that movies with his machine gun and a kill count comes up where it compares him to various movies like Robocop, Total Recall, and at the end says "Most violent movie ever." That shit is now completely out of date because of the new Rambo.

Overall, if you don't mind afew moments of suspended disbelief (Like the idea of someone silencing a fucking .50 cal sniper rifle) it's one of the better action movies to come out recently.

In the past 60 billion years, the 1980s were the most fucked up 10 years.

Bad things about the 80s:

Men looked like swell guy.

Women were hairy.

AIDS got patented and went into mass production.

New wave sound, OH SHIT I HEAR THE ICE CREAM TRUCK!!!!!111!1111oneone-rock, OH SHIT I HEAR THE ICE CREAM TRUCK!!!!!111!1111oneone-metal, OH SHIT I HEAR THE ICE CREAM TRUCK!!!!!111!1111oneone-everything.

There was no DAC.

Cartoons that ended with teaching you something about life, like that raping kittens is wrong on Sundays.

Good things about the 80s:

They eventually ended.

Cocaine.

Punk rock.

Breakdance.

Synthesizers.

Anyhow, nearly 3 kills a minute is a valuable enough argument for me to pay 10 bucks to see this movie.

It looks like Meet the Spartans barely beat Rambo at the box office, I'm a bit saddened. Rambo should open with like 500 million.
