The next edition of the controversial Fallout Bible is out! The news on Black Isle describes it this way:
More fun from the world of Fallout, commemorating the seventh fabulous update with the seven deadly secrets of Fallout, including the original concept art for deathclaws, Dogmeat's first name, the mysterious Fallout-area-that-never-was: the Burrows, the name of the man responsible for that exploding head animation you can call up in the Credits movie in Fallout 1, and more! So click on the link below, pull up a chair by the fire, sip your tea, and enjoy.
That link they're talking about is this one here, I do believe. That pic doesn't even have any horns.VasikkA wrote:Hmm, I don't think it looks like a Fallout deathclaw at all. Shorter limbs, shorter horns... aw come one, it's a small lizard compared to a deathclaw.
That really looks a lot like a werewolf, hang on I'll check. *Grabs Werewolf rulebook and looks for some artwork then compares it.* Almost a match. Hm, werewolves in FO3? Nice thought actaully. I'd like to see it happen
I'm guessing that the D&D monster it's based off is a Giant Horned Chameleon.

Only a real artist knows the actual anatomy of the terrible, or the physiology of fear - the exact sort of lines and proportions that connect up with latent instincts or heriditary memories of fright, and the proper colour contrasts and lighting effects to stir the dormant sense of strangeness.

Well, for those who don't know, the monster is the tarrasque, one of the biggest badasses in the game of D&D. Once you look at the picture of the tarrasque from the 2nd ed. AD&D Monstrous Manual, it's painfully obvious. However, the tarrasque is a lot bigger than a deathclaw (several stories taller), so I guess they scaled it down or something.

Yup, they took a model of one of those from another game and altered it for use in Fallout. They thing is, they altered it to look more lizardish and more like the Shadow claw, including the color scheme, the spikes on the back, the symmetry of the "clawed hands", and so on.Spazmo wrote:Well, for those who don't know, the monster is the tarrasque, one of the biggest badasses in the game of D&D. And saying the werewolf looking design was better because it was first is rather silly, don't you think? This is especially the case when you're trying to add validity to Micro Forte's Sheepclaw which looks nothing like either.
