Games you love...

Post by Dogmeatlives »

As I was posting in the GTA4 thread, I was thinking about all the gaming love affairs I've had. My game love life has slowed down dramatically since I obtained a real love life and other life responsibilities, but I would just like to share with you fuckers the games that I once loved. I'll start chronologically....

1. Turtles in Time(SNES)
2. GTA (PS1)
3. FAllout 1 (PC)
4. Fallout 2 (PC)
5. GTA 3 (PS2)
6. Star Wars Battlefront (PS2)
7. Hogs of War (PS1)
8. MArio Kart DoubleDash (Gamecube)
9. GTA IV (EXBawks)

There are many other games that I have enjoyed but these are the ones that hold sentimental value for me, and I would never refuse to play any of them. As a matter of fact, I still have my original SNES and play Turtles through evry now and then.

What games could you really say you love? and not love like a OH SHIT I HEAR THE ICE CREAM TRUCK!!!!!111!1111oneone would love a pretty dress. I mean a deep connection, an unbreakable bond.

oh, I almost forgot AOE 2.

1. Super Mario Bros 1 & 3(NES)
2. Rock n'roll Racing(SNES)
3. Mortal Kombat(Genesis)
4. Shining Force 2(Genesis)
5. Fallout 1 & 2(PC)
6. GTA2(PC)
7. Close Combat 2(PC)
8. Civilization 2(PC)
9. Tactical Ops(PC)
10. Final Fantasy 7(PSX)
11. Baldur's Gate 2(PC)
12. Warcraft 2(PC)

And I could add :

13. Turtle in Time(SNES)(yeah, me too, played it in multiplayer so often)
14. Blades of Steel(NES)
15. NHL '91(Genesis)(or was it '92? the first one anyway, on Genesis, I must have played thousands of game with my best friend)

My order is probably chronologically fucked up, but still, those are pretty much my heart breakers, the one I've spent probably weeks and weeks on them(heck, my first playthrough of FF7 lasted 120 hours, and I played it at least 5-6 times). And I'm probably forgetting some.

Warcraft 2 should probably have made my list as well. I played that game so much I actually would hallucinate health bars over people in real life.

I remember playing for an entire weekend and afterwards trying to command my mom with my mind, to go and chop wood.

I wonder now if playing that game at such a young age has anything to do with my current obsession with lumber and gold harvesting.

1. Fallout (2)
2. C&C Tiberian Sun
3. Master of Orion 2
4. Company of Heroes
5. Red Alert (2)
6. Half-Life (2)
7. Neverhood
8. Metal Slug
9. Portal
10. Doom (2)

I wanted to have STALKER on there, but without any mods the game is total shit. Also, I know I don't have any old console games on there, mainly because I never had one as a kid. I went straight from an old Colecovision to a Nintendo 64.

So much to chose from.. a quick list would be something like this:
1. Metal slug 4 and 5
2. Red Alert 1
3. Civ3
4. Fallout 1
5. Final Fantasy 7
6. Jagged Alliance 2
7. Total War
8. Syndicate
9. Ghost Recon/Rainbow Six
10. Cid's Pirates

Not to forget all the awesome NES and SNES classics like Track and Field 2, Nintendo World Cup and that damn plumber whatshisface.

Hmm.. I have the eerie feeling of having forgotten something very important. Ah, never mind. So much goodness on these lists already. :king:

Edit: just remembered Metal Gear Solid fo' da Play Stayzizzle.

The game that has had the biggest impact on my life, is WoW, as sad as that may or may not sound.
I know I've said it before, but since I meet more and more people through that game, it's just awesome.

Fallout truly has the best setting of all.
If there had been put as much work into it, as say WarCraft lore, with on-time sequals and proper followups with the original creators, it would've been sweet beyond measure.

Going in a bit, so I'll make a short and worthwhile list later.

That's the worst game ever. Coincidentally it's by Rebellion, the makers of one of my favorite games Aliens vs. Predator.

Commander Keen, Carmageddon, Doom 1/2, Descent 1/2, Freespace 2, Darksun: Shattered Lands, and some of the other obvious ones like Fallout 1/2 I replayed and modded more than anything else.

... WoW...

No, but, seriously. The HoMM Chronicles about Tarnum struck something in me back when I needed a deep story line to pull me into the game.

I was baffled by NWN and absolutely loved playing it.

I still feel an itch to play Planescape: Torment again soon.

And I have a deep love for games in a swashbuckler setting which I share with my father from back when we both played Pirates Gold the '87 edition. So I loved SeaDogs and played it over and over again, but was never really caught by any other of the games. And when the 3d Pirates came out, it was basically just like a stab in an old wound.

BioShock was the first FPS to ever get my attention and not be scoffed off as a waste of time, so I think it deserves credit for that.

I always really did enjoy Devil May Cry III. And then there's the entire social aspect of playing the Tekken games with friends and frantically bruising your finger bones in order to kill each other.
