i dont want to start a big discussion about it, but its pretty obvious slipknot are a death metal band. not a good one, but when you listen to the early albums there is a definite slayer/sabbath vibe.

Huh? Slipknot's first album was "Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.", there was no hint of death metal in it whatsoever, more like jazz.
They took a new turn with their second album, fuck I cannot remember the name right now, but it was nu-metal straight from the fucking book.
Same went for the third album.

I used to be a heavy Slipknot fan something like 8-9 years ago.
